Even with his nerves and all he still sang over 300 Opera performances, and that was just at the Vienna State Opera! He must have sung thousands of performances elsewhere! So I think this whole business of his nerves and all is just an exaggeration. All singers get nervous before performing. That's a fact.
What a great voice! Such a tragedy about his nerves - just like poor Corelli. Definitely one of the best I ever heard and I've heard a lot! Thanks for posting!
I will, you can rely on me. He will be 70 in June and I am looking forward to see him again in BArcelona where he lives. His three sons and his wife Luisa are also very likeable. The second one, Daniel, - WOW you would be amazed how similar he looks like to his father. His eldest son Jaime jr. started to sing as well, but gave up. Jaime has two grand children, a girl and a boy.
He had always problems with his fragile nerves and was VERY nervous on stage. But HE WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST !!!
la intención es maravillosa, siempre cantando sul fiato! sin esforzar ni apretar, de este modo la voz es libre, como si las notas flotaran, linea, legato, impecable! gran trabajo, Bravo Maestro!
I saw him as Cavaradossi at the Theater Colon in Buenos Aires, and his center voice was so big, he is famous for his high notes, but the center voice made the house vibrate.
A beautiful, pure singer. Certainly the "4th" Tenor. His voice is not as rich as Jose or Placido, but he has much more facility in the upper register. He looks and acts the part more than Luciano, yet his very top notes don't thrill like his. Still, he's better than any other tenor around nowadays.
What a joy to dicover all of these clips of Aragall on you tube! His was a voice to celebrate for all time.

cool. Sometimes the breathing is a bit off, but it also really had some golden moments.
