  • In the summer of 1978 I lived in Dalsbygda with the family of another local Olympic skier named Kare Olav Berg. I recently learned that he passed away. It's good to see that Dalysbyga has another ski star.

    Therese Johaug: - I have been very clever, but still not good enough. I have simply not been able to eat enough in the hardest periods. It's massive amounts of food going down and sometimes I must admit that I have been a little tired and did not get enough food.

    Therese Johaug: - I've increased the amount of training a lot before this season. Last year I was on 70 hours a month. I increased to 90-100 hours before this season. That, and that the body becomes stonger and get trained through increased muscle mass, makes the combustion increases.

    According to team doctor the girls need about 4000 calories a day. There are over twice as much as a normal person. She admits it is a challenge for athletes to get enough and proper food.
