Oh yeah fun fact. You know how all the transformation masks are of dead people? Well idk about Oni but he's most likely just a God that died or something in a fight with Majora. Anyways the Deku Mask is the Deku Butler's son. And that sad tree in the beginning of the game is him. That's why the Butler is there crying in the credits.

If you look closely in the scene where the temple rises from the lake, you can see that the platform Link is standing on at the moment ends up getting flooded with poisonous water. It's not deep but concerning the distance it is probably still over his head or at least close to it... I would think that would ruin his efforts... :/
