I have seen plenty win this competition without needing to do what Michael did and the smirk on his face as he called Chris's name made me want to break his face.
If this scenario happened in the later seasons, Gordon would have intervened and sent both Elsey and Chris back to the line and eliminate Jimmy anyways.

I liked the fact that Ramsay would pick from the nominees designated by the team. It added a strategic element for the competitors and made for some surprising moments in the show. Really, what's the point in nominating anyone if Ramsay can just kick out whoever he feels deserves to be gone?

I don't blame Michael , in hell's kitchen it's a war zone, great battle plan, putting a strong person up there and the weakest, if you lose the weakest, then that's still good cause you'll have a stronger team, hopefully there won't be too much tension in the team but a stronger team, if you lose a strong cook, then one less obsticle in your way, cause taking out a weak cook would be easy.
Once again great plan, beside in the end there can only be ONE!

yes micheal made a strategic move but at the same time it was a justified one. Chris was bragging the whole time about how he was executive chef wherever he worked and he just didn't prove by the level of cooking that he was. His cooking was crap so Ramsey kicked him out simple as that.

Plotting is fine in a competition, if it's done with a degree of respect. He didn't make promises he didn't keep or anything, he played by the rules of the game...as IMByrne said, like in poker.
I wanted to smack both Chris and Micheal for saying "oui chef" - it's PASTA night for chrissakes... if you're going to use a forieign language on pasta night, it better be Italian... "Si, Chef!"
I appreciate that in later seasons, if Gordon suspects the nominations are for subterfuge reasons rather than performance-based, that he calls it out and changes the nominations to what he'd do.
Clearly he was fine with cutting this one loose; but it also seems obvious what Michael was up to.
@foreverealm Personaly, I don't think it was entierly subterfuge on Michal's part - After all, he did give a reason - "If He's so good, he'll still be here." (It was still probably more for stratergy, though.) Gordon DID have a reason to get rid of Chris, so off he went. Later seasons just had the people who went for the "subterfuge" method be abosolutly shit at hiding the true intentions, (Not that Michal did a good job, but... Yeah.) Giving Gordon no reason to throw them out, So they stayed.
In later seasons, he overrides the best of the worst's decision if he doesn't agree. Based on this service, Jimmy definitely should have been up there instead.
Chris was an arrogant asshole right from the start though and you could tell that GR didn't like him from the word go.

Chris would have made a terrible chef de cuisine because he won't admit to someone else's superiority. Thinking he's the best instead of Micheal is plain stupid.
Very nice to see the suprised look on Chris' face and the smile on Jimmy's face when chris got nominated.

Michael had a plan and saw it through, and for that he gets a thumbs up from me.
Plotting is fine in a competition, if it's done with a degree of respect. He didn't make promises he didn't keep or anything, he played by the rules of the game...as IMByrne said, like in poker.

I appreciate that in later seasons, if Gordon suspects the nominations are for subterfuge reasons rather than performance-based, that he calls it out and changes the nominations to what he'd do.
Clearly he was fine with cutting this one loose; but it also seems obvious what Michael was up to.

@foreverealm Personaly, I don't think it was entierly subterfuge on Michal's part - After all, he did give a reason - "If He's so good, he'll still be here." (It was still probably more for stratergy, though.) Gordon DID have a reason to get rid of Chris, so off he went. Later seasons just had the people who went for the "subterfuge" method be abosolutly shit at hiding the true intentions, (Not that Michal did a good job, but... Yeah.) Giving Gordon no reason to throw them out, So they stayed.

In later seasons, he overrides the best of the worst's decision if he doesn't agree. Based on this service, Jimmy definitely should have been up there instead.
Chris was an arrogant asshole right from the start though and you could tell that GR didn't like him from the word go.
