  • i hate these cocky videos

  • Sounds like another way to 'keep-track' of people. Meaning: Loss of anonymity.

  • Loved the video :) And it worked... I definitely feel the urge to go revisit my contacts on LinkedIn.

  • so Linkedin is basically Facebook for smart people?

  • Great video, clear format, voice and style..thanks!!

  • Sounds risky to put such personal information out there for just anyone? I guess they don't do high security checks on people who sign up? Sounds risky. Would love to know if someone has made serious money for being on LinkedIn.

  • This paper add must have cost 10 bucks lol

  • I create videos for websites. Can you guide me to get customers for my video creation service ?

  • Screw it !It got in my address book and sent out invites. F U Linkedin

  • The narration is irritating

  • What are people so confused about? Please educate yourselves, this is clearly a very helpful tool for your career.

  • just looks like another scam...this video sucks.

  • That was a head melter!

  • This does not explain what LinkedIn is in the slightest.

  • I watched and possibly know less than before

  • a goldmine for scammers...lol!

  • This is the most confusing description video I have EVER seen!

  • @theoriginalshaun Just another site for people wanted to hook up, not link in.

  • @jantemple ha! Think you may have it pegged there.

  • The site cannot be properly appraised after only one hour of using. It a bit more confusing at first, but it has great potential which it is only now realizing. If you are serious about marketing yourself, you will want to give this site a shot.

  • Another site wanting to occupy your time

  • I love these videos!

  • Useful. I love the video format and style.

    Casey

  • Meet Laurie. She owns a small engineering firm and shes gay :)

  • this tool is enormously helpful with keeping professional contacts separate from personal ones. there have been many instances where i've wanted to stay "connected" to a professional i've met, but haven't been able to do so on a social network. #ist443

  • I have never realized the value that a networking site like this can offer but the data mining potential is a concern. I guess it's a trade off. A site advertised as free that can help you network and solve problems but is it really free?? #ist443

  • vauge

  • This is a data-mining website EXACTLY like Facebook.--Far from being a "network of professionals", they are only out to get your personal info.

I made the mistake of joining, falling for the "white-collar professional network" line, and when it became obvious how useless it was, and I quit, I was assured that my info would be deleted!! LIES ! I have been spammed by them ever since, and no "unsubscribe" button will make these bastards go away !!!

  • How about we stop arranging the world and actually try experiencing life like our "ancestors" did.

  • seems just like the facebook info to me... annnd.. some looking logo. hmm

  • If my connections are LINKED IN -why do they need me? Human nature shows if someone can get a commodity cheaper, someplace else, they will go there.

  • @Milesgos. Your level of intelligence shows it. What makes you think that every comment has to be in reference to the video. Some comments are in response to other comments. As I recently said you should mind your own business. I didn't comment on you, but as usual your nose had to find someones ass.

  • Why are these stupid reality shows so popular ? Because here in America everyone is more interested in everyone elses lives than their own. Who gives a S.HIT about what you had for lunch and how much you weight !!!

  • @oliveiradamatola What the fuck has that got to do with this video?

  • Facebook, Twitter, myspace and this crap is all for those whom just want to know about everyone elses business. I don't want to know anything about anyone's life and I don't want anyone to know about mine. Mind your own business people. With this crap you can't even fart without the world know anymore.

  • LinkedIn really sucks. This is like a hard to solve mathematics formula. I've got registered and closed my account after one hour.

  • Google+ is going to destroy this overvalued shit pretty soon

  • As a former journalist, I'm not sure I want to share my database of personal contacts with lots of other people whom I don't know. Re. other peoples' trusted contacts, I find about 50% of them merit the trust and 50% of them don't. Lastly, I've never had any problem getting to know people or finding service providers. I sort of feel that LinkedIn needs me more than I need LinkedIn.

  • in conclusion, linkedin = more junk mail

  • LinkedIn paid programmers to enter thousands of names into a database, then point to their unwilling customers as potential ad revenue.

LinkedIn quite simply is one of the most overrated companies of all time.

  • "It seems like everyone is a member of LinkedIn these days"

    That's like saying

    Everyone gets sex

  • Thank you. It works for me.

  • Makes good sense. That makes it clearer for me.

  • There's a Facebook fan page called "Linkedin Connections Build" go there and leave your profile URL and email and other members will add you... Its a great way to get more connections...

  • No thanks. LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace etc. Different sides of the same time consuming die.

  • @zorug Ironically, Youtube is also a side of the same die and you are using that.

  • I Am Confused.

  • While Facebook and Twitter may hold the limelight to social media today, LinkedIn is now entering the competition, Upon browsing the internet I found out that Linkedin has 75 million members as of December 2010. This is actually an indication that it has a potential in getting more subscribers/users, actually I used LinkedIn as my online portfolio. How about you guys, what can you say about this site (LinkedIn.com)?

  • well, it seems..

  • I'm using LinkedIn since its creation. Latest I was occupied to arrange my contacts, using tags AND suddenly I was ejected from the LinkedIn site. I could and still can not use it anymore. I got the message 'ACCESS TO THIS ACCOUNT HAS BEEN SUSPENDED'. I did send several message to the Customer Service Desk to resolve this problem BUT still in vain !!! IS THIS SERIOUS !!! By the way, I only have real contact (people I do really know, colleagues, partners, no fake persons). This sucks ... JP

  • Thumbs up if You came here from super news. Thumbs down if you really have a linked in account!

  • Is this site worth signing up at for>?

  • @trema12345

    Not for most people

  • Great they stole my idea!!!

  • fuck lori's ass

  • i was thinkin it would be on some myspace shit. now i gots all this workin shit.

  • I would't fuck with Laurie

  • Yes, Laurie did look like a bloke

  • this looks like a really cheap way to make a advert

  • Bullshit. I have tried to remove my linkedin-account using the directions they have given. Whenever I have tried to automatically close it, a message appears that an unexpected problem occurs that prevents them from completing my request. Customer Service doesn´t answer my messages in which I ask them to delete my account. Don´t get LInkedin account, it´s impossible to remove.

  • @Adinax86 ah, thank you for this honest reply to the video - i am researching what this even is because all the sudden i get an invite from these guys claiming i've been invited by so and so.. ugh - i don't want to be linked in to unknown shit.. peace~

  • amazing

  • Great article Follow me on Twitter @easyboyweb

  • If I want to ask a question, google is my friend, no matter what..

  • LinkedIn is considered the dark horse of social media. Even though Facebook has breached 500 million mark, Linked In is where the real deal is. Great video!

  • reality automatically provides this service already. its called law of attraction, the future of our civilisation. nameste

  • @traida111

    what are you talking about??

  • @abram708 - I just thought it would be neat to see a basic video on how people use social networks for business. :)

  • Great tool for business people of the world.

  • Comment removed

  • @BGoulart7 Why do you need always ad??? It's depend who you are, and what you are...

  • Laurie is hot

  • Okay, so it's like a more job-oriented facebook, then? I'm a junior in college and have gotten a handful of friend invites from linkedin. Do you think it would make sense for me to actually join? It feels like something for older people, but I'm sure starting one sooner would be considered a benefit..?

  • And you can't do the exact same thing on Facebook how?

  • @grgspunk im guessing fb is more for friends, and this is more organized

  • @InsAInCroManiaCk

I've seen Linkedin before. The interface isn't anymore organized than Facebbok.

  • @grgspunk ...Basically right. It's not so much that it's -more- organized, it's that it's organized differently. You -could- do the same thing with Facebook, in the same sense that you -could- screw in screws with a butter knife. Doesn't mean a proper screwdriver wouldn't do it better.

  • But how do I cut out these shapes - I'm not allowed scissors

  • This site it fucking stupid....nuff said.

  • SO, is like FACEBOOK?

  • HOW CAN I MAKE THIS KIND OF PRESENTATION ??? PLEASE ANSWER... I REALLY LOVE THIS SIMPLE VDO.

  • @SimpleAugusta Looks like a whiteboard & markers and/or colored pencil on white bond paper. First you'll want to storyboard your presentation, then draw the elements you'll need & cut them out. Then, you use a combination of still photos of set-ups and short clips of movements to tell the story. Edit this in your video editor while you time it to your voice-over. You could do the same thing with digital photos in software like powerpoint, too.

  • While linkedin as a professional networking tool is good, it does not solve much purpose. Instead, take a look at eZdia - another networking tool. eZdia has the concept of knowledge bucket. eZdia allows knowledge to? be shared and you can offer your expert help. You may like to check eZdia if you have not done yet.

  • What about the privacy issues but! I'm tempted to join but worried about the privacy issues. Still thinking about it.

  • Simply the best source for a social media education. Thanks! I've been watching your videos all morning long. Thanks!

  • Looks like twitter intro!

  • Très intéressant au niveau du potentiel!

  • Great I have to be more creative and use linkedin proprly

  • Laurie looked like a man

  • @Ease2k6 sex change maybe?

  • @Ease2k6 I thought the same thing...

  • Relax. I think it's fashionable as opposed to pretentious. A cute vid, and don't doubt for a minute the high end advertisers don't take advantage of cheap methods to get your attention. It's called publicity. Like the bench says, you looked.

  • Low budget...so what, it explains in simple terms what it is about. There is no direct correlation between amount of spending on an advert and the quality.

And how could you make a reccommendation on something you haven't even used? Idiocy...

  • please need more clear commencation and improve the descriptions for share.

  • Linkedin is an excellent networking tool.

  • how come Linkedin didn't have the connections to make a video in flash animations rather then a bunch of stop motion tills with dorky paper dolls hahaha

  • Why? I need to decide whether it's worth it or not.

  • I've never used either, why do you think they suck?

  • great video..

  • LinkedIn is so much better for business than Facebook or MySpace. I appreciate the intelligent members that don't post their favorite music video or what they're doing after washing their car. Great responses to questions, too. No "that sucks,..." comments.

  • I'm on Linkedin, and in my humble opinion, Linkedin is all about quantity but not so much about quality. I connect with my peers, and then it ends right there and the activity dies out.

  • Then all of your peers and you just made a skeleton profile and didn't tap into each other for anything. It's not a chain letter.

  • I love the simple graphics and simple explanation! I'll send this to all my friends who only created a skeleton profile and have less than 10 contacts!

  • I have just been invited to join this professional network my profession being I own a website for men who wear lingerie, you laugh but I would probably have the biggest network on there and yes I did consider accepting until I read the agreement and the part about all info and data you generate in the site they can keep use in whatever way they like, the user loses all rights over copyright etc

  • hhahaha

  • Common Craft FTW!!

  • I used Linkinedin to network and already my 1st connection is denying me on connecting with his 2nd connection. Very discouraging when you cannot get networking to start off on the right foot during this recession. Really It's about who you know at work and really, you better be good freinds!!

  • the culture of the corporate in-crowd is akin to the NSDAP

  • Comment removed

  • How do you do a linkedin introduction

  • Great idea, I'm going to see if Bin Laden is in my network so I can cash in on the 25 million.

  • its just advertising

  • love the simplicity in explaining the concept in the Common Craft videos!!
