  • YOU'RE AWESOME!!! THANKS!!!

  • Nice one!

  • I'm planning on using a wireless mic to make pooter prank videos. Could I use iPhone earphones and use the pooter and have the earphones in so people think I'm listening to music? If you don't know what the pooter is, it's a handheld rubbery thing you squeeze to make fart noises haha.

  • "Audio program"?!? As for me, I use AUDACITY, which is fantatistic. Free, open source and very intuative.

  • @zoomtokyo sony vegas he said

  • @djsnw The audio program he's using is Adobe Audition. He's using Sony Vegas Pro to edit the video.

  • what audio program do you use? :D

  • THANK YOU. i been looking for a easy solution like this for ever!!! THANKS!!!

  • A video is nothing with shitty audio..

  • What kind of audio editor do you use?

  • what editor do you use message me back plz

  • im going to use my ipo will tht wrk

  • @filmifyification as long as you have a way of importing the audio files into your computer (usb connection), then yes

  • laggy-

  • i need software to syncronize audio PLEASE HELP

  • @trey0189 if you have a mac, imovie (the default software) works pretty well. If not, try Audacity: it's a free audio editing software that lets you drag, drop, sync, and create audio.

  • Swole arms bro. You workout?

  • Audacity is a great, free audio editing system that would work well with doing what this guy used. It has the same functions, more or less, and lets you listen to a preview of the sound before you click on Enter. This is one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" moments! Nice find :)

  • Great Idea!! I've been in video for years and didn't think to use this!

  • What program was that he used for his audio?

  • does the quality of the phone make a difference? because i did this on a cheap phone and sounded like a robot

  • he put the phone in his pocket which is connected to a headphone/microphone set for a phone ....the camera he is using has no wireless mic/or maybe no mic at all and that was a good way of working around that or improvising a solution ...although he had to download the voice recording from his phone and match it to the cameras video ...

  • oh you have to use a program to edit it. i need to learn that >.<

  • how did that happened? your phone isnt connected with your camera right? so how can we still hear you far away from the camera? im so new at this.

  • yeah compare a 100 or 200 dollar wireless against a 400 dollar iphone >:(

  • @TheUltimateDragon88 thats rite, but if you've damaged your headphone, its better to do that than throw it away....

  • @tareqhardan90 Didn't have 1 to begin with... ^^

  • @TheUltimateDragon88 Iphone has a great voice recorder...

  • @TheUltimateDragon88 "If you have a cell phone" IF! and most cell phones these days have an audio recording setting but i use my 5th gen ipod nano and most cheap mp3's also have audio recording. So do some research and ur done.

  • that is the most awesome tip ever

  • Sweet bro. Thanks for the review. One tweak, you mentioned compression makes the audio louder. Compression actually takes the peaks and makes them quieter. Expansion makes valleys louder. Makeup gain applied after a compressor will make the whole signal louder. Sorry to be an audio jackass, but I had to ;) Thanks for the vid! Awesome solution.

  • 0:02 has a crazy squirrle

  • whats up i wanna use a blutooth mic to record audio in my phone video??

  • Pause an 1 squirrel

  • Bigger is better THATS WHAT SHE SAID

  • what program do you use to edit? (sound)

  • @dominiqe90 Looks like ACID, easy to torrent

  • any body having bluetooth headset plz tell me that does th voice recording work with that???

  • That's a really great idea, I'm still trying to figure out how to reduce the rustling from my shirt though.. :\

  • hey men .. what model camara used in this video?

  • good idea. thanks

  • hahaha, this is one of the best tutorials I,ve seen!

  • run jimmi run

  • wow thanks i will try that

  • looks like audio software is adobe audition

  • its not rocket science but this is a very useful tip for those not so tech savvy as crap audio is the number 1 let down of amateur videos especially in noisy environments where even a cheap mic close to the speaker is WAY better than an expensive camera mounted mic from even 2 meters away.

  • who dislike this video are idiots.

i find this really useful, thumbs up! and subscribe!

  • great, thanks for the tutorial

  • 25,000th veiw

  • audio = 80% of video

    video = 20% of video

with no sound u have a video nobody wants to watch

  • 720th thumbuper! LOL!

  • Hey I really need to know why audio editor you used!

    PLEEEEZE RESPOND IF ANYONE KNOWS!!!

  • @sepehrsb He says sony vegas

  • @TYZZL26 thats the video editor. i need the audio editor

  • @sepehrsb idk then cause thats what he said he tied in the audio with maybe send him a

    PM

  • @sepehrsb

do you mean what audio editor? i guess he use the sound forge.

but why he use audio editor is to make the sound really good of course and louder, or perhaps you have another alternate way to make it louder?

sometimes if you hear your voice using your handphone it would be REALLY QUITE even you cannot hear that.

but with audio editor, the sound will be good and nice. i recommend AUDACITY because its absolutely free and both Normalize and compresor are there too.

  • Wow this is really cool! Thanks!

  • cool stuff man... thumbs up ;)

  • Wow, great idea and so simple. Thanks for posting. Now I'm seriously considering getting the D3100 over the D7000 and save $900.

  • Thanks for the video. I have a Drift HD170 helmet cam and the mic is the worst. I cut the mic out and installed a studio quality mic that I got really cheap used on Ebay. The new mic works great but think I need to try the sound editing tricks that you talked about to get the volume just a tad bit louder. Mic volume is already turned up to full on the camera mic input setting. In vegas video what do you render your video output file to?

Good info in your how to video.

  • really liked this,im gonna buy one of these

  • "run far away..... run Jimmy run!" best part of any YouTube video

  • U Rock Man

This Video Helped Me So Much

    ThanKs

  • I recently bought a Backflip - and was hoping to be able to record sound with my new phone along w video (BT style...) ..nope, Why is this so hard with all the tech we have now??

Well, the phone that fell in the pool a month ago now works. (go figure) So now I can record sound on the recorder (?) of the Backflip, and the vid on the Samsung Impression - all while driving my motorcycle :) No earbuds needed - those would hurt.

Thanks for the tip!! LOVE IT! trying it this week!

  • DUDE! This is genius! I am so glad I watched this! Holy crap why didn't I think of it????

  • Run Jimmy run!

  • thanks for the help man

  • amazing. thank you

  • /watch?v=F0ppGNkEvzo <--- jon's back(:

  • I record using my mp3 player... almost the same thing. I never thought of using my phones hands free mic... could make for better audio. Thanks Jon!

  • Outside Cool...

    :)

  • so much help

but doesnt it hurt ripping the mic off when ur done...

  • @dinosaurcolours You have to go EXTREMELY slowly... or just use a Band-Aid.

  • what sound editor should we use?

preferable free and very very easy....

  • @OzTheGenius Do a google search for Audacity for windows. That should take you to the download page. Free and Open Source goodness!

  • @librano yup thank you i just found it and used it =]

  • yo, tehkseven,

    thanks for the great info!

    kudos!

  • how do u cut off the headset part and keep the mic on??

  • thank u sooooo much

  • guys please what audio editor software was jon using?? 1:29

  • Great use of another audio recorder. I never thought of that!!!!

  • you've made my life so much easyer next time I have to wait I will just drink something and let time go by rapidly I may never even know that my wait is over!

  • Dude, this is great stuff! I never thought of it.. Thanks!

  • What video editor do u use

  • @kingfatty97 Sony Vegas Listen carefully.

  • Shit, I never thought about that Ö

  • Does it matter if you use an older phone? will the quality be bad.

  • please please please make a tutorial on how to sync up the audio with the video

  • @danielfillmore If your video has sound as well, when you load it and the external audio into the video editor, simply match up the sound waves from the video and the external audio in the timeline. That should get them in sync.

If the video has no audio, use some visual cues.. e.g. do a countdown and do something at zero... drop your hand or something. Then you can sync up the zero from the audio to the hand dropping.

  • not all headphones have microphones :((

  • is that really n900? whoa!!! thats amazing quality!!! pretty damn neat!!!

  • bet the three who disliked and wireless microphone makers

  • This is awesome! Thanks!

  • what audio software?

  • Comment removed

  • Very good but you should normalize your sound after adding an effect you did it the wrong way round. very good though

  • What did u use to tweak the audio?

  • hey i dint get it. if you connect the microphone jack to the phone, isnt it still wired? how did he achieve wireless?

  • @NOPCsOnlyMAC nope, he's using a camera to record the video and is using the N900 to record the audio. He then syncs up the audio from N900 with the video from his camera. It's a great trick, a little time consuming but it's worth it!

  • Been using this technique for years. Good video to explain to people who dont know this :)

  • what about a mic for an ustream ?

  • I got some tehkwear it's gonna be sweet

  • wait im confused. if im understanding this correctly, you record the video with a real video camera and record the sound with a recording software on your phone, then sync up the 2 in a video editing software?

  • But isnt the headphones still atached to the phone? how is it wireless?
