@pnvpable thankyou for this upload, i have been blessed to be from manihiki and rakahanga, but have only been to raka when i was a young girl but never made it to manihiki. watching your vid clips part one and two,believe it or not i got all teary eyed,doesnt help with lovely songs lol. such a beautiful island/atoll. one day i will go home.. thanks
i am aitutaki, but i must say, manihiki is a beautiful island, and i am very proud to know that we still have people in the islands still living the traditional way for food hunting and not waiting for markets. Thanks manihiki for keeping the culture alive :) love freddy kaina's song too :D...does any manihiki want to be my friend and give me a pearl haha
@halfcookiehalfniue Kia Orana koe I'd love to be your friend and give you a pearl otherwise you can marry a handsome Manihikian and have all the pearls you want by owning your own farm pearl?
@halfcookiehalfniue Kia orana if you are half Aitutakian / half Nuiean and if on your Nuiean side you are part of the Tafatu family from Alofi and can trace your ancestry to Maleko Taniela Tafatu and you are a decendent of this man then your Manihikian too cos he married a Manihikian and lived there.
The song Manihiki is a very old composition and I was only 10 years old when I learnt to sing it in Tukao. I honestly believe the composer of the song is the well know Ben Ellis...I hope this clariifys the above!
very nice song i like this naai i atu i teia imene?it's really beautiful aue te reka ite aere anga o teia imene and there is a meaning to the words of this song as it goes manihiki is the land and will always remain,its manihiki will always remain aere mai welcome all. Ine Wheeler(nee short)kare rai taku enua tangata ite kanga ite imene.
@Phenom713 Song composed by Freddy Kaina. Sung by his group, Te Rosario (Lead by the Kaimar Experience-Uncle Freddy, Uncle Takaio Ripata, Uncle Henry Kaina, Aunty Regina Atatoa and Aunty Vaniva Borrell) Te Rosario, Grandchildren of Kaimar.
Kai=Papa KAINA Ripata.
Mar=Mama MARII Ripata.
This song was going to be released as Te Rosario vol2 but songs on the album were copied and spread out. It was a shame that it didn't get released, as it had a gold mine of pure Manihiki songs.
