for this reason there are more of makhna elephants(elephant without ivory) in srilanka, & it is increasing in india now.

@meene In Thailand They were breeding them and releasing them into the wild, but actually removing their tusks under sedation so to discourage poaching in the future. Obviously it would more than likely grow back, but it would be able to breed and live with a reduced threat.

It is soo sad that people kill such a big animal for such a small piece of ivory. Ivory definitely looks better on the elephant.
