@ukandoittowithkandoo You definitly do! It is an instrument like anything else.

I'd suggest you take another instrument as reference. You do not really need to play it well: I guess the easiest would be a piano. Try to figure out the major or minor scale of the tune you want to sing and then practice the scale with your voice along to the scale played on the piano.

For special evercise practive to sing intervals refering to the root tone up, and down to the root.

Janis?? I dont think so ! Janis had soul and her voice on produced recordings was great but live? Anne Wilson & Pat Benatar are the greatest in rock music!!!
