They get into it, and use voice inflections that define character. Even in this short video, I can point them out. 0:19 , 1:15 , and 1:23 . This is a good example of a great Dub. Another example. Baccano. Jap version wasn't that great because the story is set in Boston 1930 - 31. Eng version worked better.

Then it talks about Sakoku which was like in the 1700s. Then baseball which just started in america in the early 1900s.

@SuperMiwok The anime took place more in the mid 1800, it's clearly announced at the start that it is at the end of the samurai era, just before Japan got mixed with foreign countries, got industrialised etc, and i explained in the message before, it's not an error about the plane thing

@Garaam12 Well it is hard to say, this anime has alot of real history events in it. But they are all from different cenutries. It talks about the "Shimabara Rebellion" which was in the 1600s. Then it talks about Sakoku which was like in the 1700s. Then baseball which just started in america in the early 1900s.

@AlexDiscoBall The whole Anime is based around anachronism (i dont know if it's the right word in english), but everything is out of his time, some mafia boss with fashion sun glasses, graffiti (was created in 1975), the slang they use in the original version and the behavior is clearly ninety's and plus in japanese language, not oldschool, they made it that way, and it's fucking awesome

Mugen "pretended" to be an airplane at 0:34, but there are no airplanes in that era. Just like how Jin has glasses. Doesn't matter though, it's Samurai Champloo.
