As a fan of Bharatha Natyam, I enjoyed your style of fusion. It was graceful and neat.
My only constructive comment is that your costume seemed incomplete; like something else was needed. Ankle bells would help balance the look. But something more.
The music is being over used by too many dancers. It detracts from your unique
I like the costume, though it's odd - it enables us to see the subtlety and strength of her movements, something that is sometimes lost under a skirt.
I really dont like mix things*** for me tribal is a modernation of bellydance and this is too with some indian steps*** But i think for this mix works well, the music had be mix with classic indian music to have conection with some movements. but anyway i love this one! You have talent girl!
I love Ruric Amari...i used to go to her belly dance classes until i moved to go to college. this is not her traditional style as i remember it, but she was always experimenting with different things. she is really intelligent and has been doing this since she was real little. I am glad to see her still enjoying what she loves best!
From a dancer's POV that is a fantastic fusion. She does both dances justice; she has grace, poise, all the hand gestures and pauses necessary to emphasize what she's doing without making it look like hard work (which it most certainly is). Very well done; what was the title and artist of the music, if I might ask?
I don't mind her costume. She's an innovative, unique dancer, so I think it's acceptable for her costume to be her own style. She's taken elements of Belly Dance and of Bharatanatyam to create something her own, with respect for both cultures and for herself as a fusion artist. Beautiful job Ruric!
Well, think of it this way. If she was wearing pieces of a Bharatanatyam costume, folks would complain that she wasn't really performing Bharatanatyam so she shouldn't wear the costume. If she was wearing a 'real' belly dance costume, folks would complain that she wasn't really performing belly dance so she shouldn't wear that costume either. I think this costume is a good start: it neither asks for permission OR begs for forgiveness :)
Both styles wear skirts, so I still think she needs a skirt. It is a fusion of dance it should be a better fusion of costume is all I'm saying. Every dancer knows how important their costume is.
I like the costume, myself, although fancier pants would be nice. The costume is a big cue that she's not trying to represent what she's doing as bharatanatyam, and it certainly adds to her ruthless-goddess stage personna. IMO.
Nice dance although it's mostly bharatanatyam as for the basic positions and combinations. The costume is awful ... I don't think it's appropriate to dance bharatanatyam wearing a bra !
this dancer has definatly learnt bhrathanatayam, its an ancient dance of india, performed in temples.
Such an original fussion is indeed something to applaud. Both belly dancing and bhartha natayam are euqally tough to learn and to fuse it togehter takes talent.
BUT the costume does not do the dance thats ment to be performed in temple any justice.
i would sugesst having a belly dancing skirt with indian jewelry- try using a ghargra choli.
I love this dance. Ruric's postures and arms are fantastic and i love how she combines all the forms of dance she learns into her own style. Such a beautiful dance!

Wow. She looks and dances like a goddess. I feel like I'm watching worlds being created while she dances.
