@Callum3957 Spoiler!! don't read if you haven't seen the movie!! ...... actually the ending did have a deeper meaning but a lot of people missed it. I thought it was perfect and much better then the typical "she's still here " ending that most horror films have... she reunited him and his son w/ his wife b/c he reunited her son with her ... it was her "thank you gift" too him. So it does have a point b/c he kept flashing back too his dead wife the whole movie b/c he missed her
Here's a question for anybody that wants to answer: Did you see a happy ending or a sad ending? I interpreted the ending as positive. What happens in the final scene didn't really negate the last 20 minutes, in my opinion. In that finale, I saw beauty.
@TheEscapist1979 First, I really enjoyed the movie. It was a lot better than I thought it would be. I see why most people are disappointed with the ending. Personally I didn't feel anything and hoped for something more. It very much does negate the last 20 minutes of the movie. (Trying not to ruin anything) Think about it, why did they do all the things they did in the last 20 minutes? Now think about how it actually ended. I think you will find there was little point.
@cptbdawg Here's how I interpret the ending: One reunion for another. The last 20 minutes shows just how hard he worked to resolve the problem. And though you can see a horrible and tragic outcome, I believe he was actually given a gift. Radcliffe's character was suffering. But if you're wondering about the very last shot? My answer to that is this: "never forgive". This is a hard film to discuss and I hope I'm being vague enough for those who haven't seen it. But again, I saw beauty.
insidious no other movie will have a scary soundtrack like it and it has a great plot and good acting. the shining is up there to because its just badass
You made me jump. But OK HERE'S THE DEAL! There is a part of the movie that I do not understand AT ALL, and no one has commented on it besides me. But I got the feeling that Jannet killed herself before her son died. Because the three of them are in front of the house and Jannet is in the window in the picture. The part that confused me is that she was writing notes to her sister about how angry she was that her son didn't get a proper service. Was Jannet writing these notes after she died?
@emjayyap ****SPOILER***** (and could be intentionally be wrong) The Son is Adopted. and the real mother "JANNET" wanted to stay in contact with him. But they Adopted Parent didn't let the Son get any of her messages. She got mad of that. Than the Whole Accident Made her even more mad, because they didn't find his body and didn't give him a proper funeral. SO. she wrote these before she died.
Just saw this movie and it was so predictable!!! Cheap scares with the use of a quick loud violin pluck don't work anymore. Radcliffe was great but he has no support at all in this film. Original was better.
I just saw this movie a couple hours ago and I loved it. It's the way every scary movie should be. It's my new favorite scary movie, next to Insidious.
What irritated me about that is that it took a while for the film to get to the point and make the audience understand this. And even after that, I was still confused about why Kipps gets all the blame for why things were starting up again for the citizens of the village and their children. (I hope I didn't reveal too much to those who wanted to see it). And I agree about the ending. It just made think "Well if that had to happen, then why did they bother with the stuff before that?"
Hmmm... I just got back from watching this movie and it just didn't work for me. Although I'll give it credit for having some good suspenseful moments and Daniel Radcliffe did a pretty good job. I think the main problems for me were that some of the scares were "jump scares" and I've seen it so many times that I got tired of it. As for the plot, it's the usual "spirit in limbo because she wants some sort of revenge for the death of her son".
Hmm Eric Striffler (Pretty Much It) called it an average horror movie with bad jump scares and didn't offer a good role for Radcliffe. Maybe he had higher expectations?
I'd rather watch The Orphanage in any case for a recent ghost story movie.
It may not be my favorite scary movie of all time but I think The Changeling (1980) is a great film that is often overlooked or maybe just not as well known as it should be.
I gonna see it, I know is not scary just a bit creepy. But Loves those old ghostly gothic castle/house in a foggy/greenery sitting, just like it a lot & creepy stuffs in house as u said. Fun to watch it in stormy/rainy day, I’m getting these days
My fav scariest movie is The Exorcist, I did pee in my pants when I first saw it, I was a kid back in 80s & still till today is my #1 scariest movie of all the time to many old school people too.
3 films are basically tied for scariest film of all time...I honestly cant decide but those 3 films are The Exorcist, Paranormal Activity & Insidious. All of these films creeped me out to the point of losing sleep...that to me is an effective scary movie - when they make your imagination go crazy.
Favourite is Scream as I think it's very clever, though it's not the scariest. Scariest for me is Exorcist, perhaps a cliche but very disturbing nonetheless, especially if you saw it when you were very young...
i think the blazer and buttoned shirt should be the official look from now on, stuckmann. consistency. pro. classy. haha. i'm serious though :) you have the opening and the hook-line at the end of your videos. add in the well dressed / casual look and you got it. look forward to each new video. later!
The Orphanage is my favorite scary movie. But my favorite scare of all time was Exorcist 3, when a certain moment arrived everyone in the theater screamed like little girls and jumped. The huge guy next to me grabbed me in his startled moment - linebackers need solace too. We didn't know each other, but shared a laugh on the way out
Ok the beginning scared the crap out of me. I really want to see this, I love creepy, jumpy films and this reminds me of The Awakening which I really liked.
I know everyone hates the movie now......But the Blair witch project still scares me to this day, I guess it's all in how you look at it. That movie get's my vote.
@TheTrollslayer69 We watch the DVD in the middle of a pine forest on Halloween when it was released. Later that night me and a few friends slipped out of the camp area and setup the hay dolls every where. We had about 15 friends that night. 3 involved in the setup. I was fun to watch the gfs freak out in the morning.
Good review Chris, will be seeing this, this weekend along with Chronicle. I'd have to say my all time favourite horror film is John Carpenter's original Halloween.
I haven't seen this yet, but the trailer has totally reminded me of my favorite haunted house movie ever "The Innocents". So yeah... I'm pretty excited
thats a hard one ... I loved paranormal activity 1 ... b/c I have been an investigator for 8 years and I found it eerily realistic as too the reports I get from "haunted" home owners ... but I love the original amityville horror, the entity (which I would love to see remade), the ring, the grudge ... hmm hard too choose one ..
For me, it's either Quarentine or Insidious. Not a whole lot of good scary movies but I think these two are pretty good (that is, until I see The Woman in Black).
The iconic 1973 horror classic "The Exorcist". I'm not scared by horror films, I tend to be highly judgmental towards them, but that absolutely took the cake. One of the most powerful, yet scariest movies I've seen. Fantastic.
My favorite scary movie would have to be REC. That is a very intense and suspenseful movie and probably one of the best first person shot movies ever. Quarantine is pretty much the same thing just in English. But I think REC better overall. Not a fan of REC 2 though.
john carpenters the thing is my favorite horror film but if you meant like a film that scared you that you loved, which you probably didnt, that would be ju-on 1 & 2, those 2 films scared the living shit outta me, but the thing is my favorite horror film of all time, I hated the prequel though but the original the thing from another world was great, nice vid, whats your favorite and definietly will be checking out woman in black
I love Daniel Radcliffe (I'm biased because I grew up with Harry Potter), so I'm really happy that this was a good transition for him, Chris. btw, my favorite scary movie of all time HAS to be Misery, starring James Caan and Kathy Bates. That movie just feels so realistic and tense, and of course James Caan and Kathy Bates are excellent in it. And the story really, REALLY frightens me.
Such a good film!! Wasn't scary though x

Maybe I won't get Stuckmanized. Just because I would really like to meet Harrison Ford. That would be cool.
