  • Based on a survey of 354 NFL players in 2004.

Who Is the Greatest Player You Ever Saw?

    John Elway 7%

    Joe Montana 8%

    Walter Payton 20%

Barry Sanders received the most votes at 30%

And this is football players of All time.

Emmitt Smith is nowhere to be seen.

  • The greatest lie ever told , sold , purchased and believed is that barry was a one man show in Detriot . Kevin Glover ( PB X 3) and Lomas Brown (PB X 7), Herman Moore (PB X 4), Mel Grey PB kick returner ,Brett Perriman had several pro bowl caliber years, Other notable players were Robert Clarke, Richard Johnson , Johnnie Morton who had 4 1k seasons with the lions, Fralic although he only played there one season was no slouch either. Those teams had some very good players.

  • The one area that the lions fell short in was being consistent at the QB position. Dave Kreig came in one year and pretty much played lights out and salvaged a season. Mitchel had one horrible year , one great year and two average years. The rest of the time the offense was stuck with Pete , Kramer, Gagliano and sometimes ware..

Sure Sanders had some incredible runs. But so did Emmiit. Emmitt was by far the better blocker , better out of the backfield and equally as gifted a runner.

  • It should also be noted that Dallas did not take Emmitt out of the game in short yardage and goal line situations. You can't say the same thing about Barry...

    therefore hands down

    Emmitt > Barry

  • i stopped watching after the barry highlights. you will never see anything like that man did again.

  • Imagine if Barry played the same amount of seasons as Emmitt. Very disappointing. If you knew Barry, you know he did the right thing.

  • @TimTimGorilla310 Yea man I luv both of them but Barry was a smalltown blue-collar guy somethin like a Larry Bird type, he jus went 2 work everyday and did his job. He literally carried that sorry franchise on his back....lol

  • @icekoldnigga Yeah that's exactly who Barry was. I have his book titled, " Now you see him" and he explains that he was in a franchise that didn't even care about losing and that he wasn't having fun anymore. So I think he did the right thing by leaving. Barry without a doubt was a more skilled runner than Emmitt but Emmitt had the toughness and durability to play for as long as he did.

  • @TimTimGorilla310 IMO Emmit was a better bak. In their prime Emmit was bes no doubt. Overall their first 10 yearsI give it to Barry (by a bit) However, Emmit could perform where it counted (the playoffs). Something Barry couldnt do

  • @Triplethreat99 If you compare Barry's runs, to Emmitt's, you will notice that Emmitt had fantastic linemen. They opened the holes for him and made it easier for him to run and win football games. Barry was on a team that we all know sucked and had to do almost everything by himself. He had to run sideways and backwards half the time. He has the most negative yardage but also the most yards per carry next to Jim Brown. Your right about the playoffs.Hisrookie season they almost won the whole thing

  • @TimTimGorilla310 if u notice how many players emmit got past & barry gott pasted i think u can say emmit had the harder task brooo

  • @iCOULDNThinkOFsHIT What do you mean"got past"?

  • @TimTimGorilla310

Personally I think it's hard to say Barry didn't have toughness since he didn't miss many games either. I can't recall him getting hurt much and missing games.

  • @ianmason2003 Your absolutely right. Barry and Walter were known to play almost every game. Walter Payton only missed one game in his 13 seasons and I meant "toughness" as in the willingness and durability to play as long as Emmitt did. Barry was very tough but he left in his prime because he wasnt having fun anymore. I think Emmitt wasnt having fun either but he just wanted to break Walter's record so damn bad. That's why it took him so damn long. Barry only needed one more season.

  • @TimTimGorilla310 barry said it best... "you play the game for the love of it. once that leaves, its time to leave as well"
