  • hey buddy is this a good alternative for seated low cable rows?cause i do stiff legged deadlifts the same day i do rows and i superset rows with bench press so i m a little worried about back givin out.

  • "Keep your spine flexed real well".....I almost choked on my apple...do you understand what that means? Flexion of the spine will load the discs and posterior ligamentous system and take the stress AWAY from the muscle. Luckily he doesn't in this video but exhalation on pulling is incorrect but still done by 99.9 of people

  • LOL! That's funny. So you have a beef with Expert Village, but can't put what's wrong with them into words. That rings shallow.

    Specifically, on the several videos Kirt does for Expert Village, he's to the point, shows proper form, warns not do use too heavy a weight etc.. So again, WHAT are your critical of? You keep avoiding giving a reason which makes you sound like somebody that just has a beef with Expert Village, not the trainers in the various videos.

  • Why do we have to inhale while we pull back and exhale while streching? This breathing pattern is opposite to the pattern followed for most of the exercises...? Can u explain why there is a change for just this exercise in the breathing pattern?

  • When and why would you utilize the other part of the handle.i.e the top and middle part of the curve?

  • this is one of my favorite machine at the gym. However when i use it i grip the handlebars verticaly instead of horizontally. to me it takes some of the work from your back and makes your biceps work more. I can do about 60 reps on 185 pounds. After about 45-50 reps i start to loose my form, but it's good to still push out a dozen or so more, at which point your lower arms are getting a really nice workout

    Do you do that like once just to see how many you can do or is that part of tour routine?

  • i do about 50-60 reps because the weights for the machine i use goes up in 15 pound increments, and I can barley do 1 proper Row on 200 pounds, yet on 185 I can easily do like 40-50.

    However it's not part of my routine, and as I improve I'll move on to doing lesser reps once I can handle the next heavier weight.

  • The more u using too much weight, the more u get no shape. It only comes out big shoulder with a flat butt.

  • @willieofroanoke Expert village is HORRENDOUS. It's not about US doing it better, it's about them doing it HORRIBLY.

  • @willieofroanoke I don't have years of experience. I'm not an expert...that's why I don't have a channel called expert village. Want an example? Look at ANY of their videos assisting with training for a marathon.

  • @mjm2005 You have to look at each video seperately. Expert Village is just a store front, that seeks out so-called "experts" on a wide variety of topics. While some of the exericse videos suck, others are quite informative.

  • @willieofroanoke I'll give you that. I just have a bit of a knee-jerk reaction whenever I click on a video seeking proper form and notice at the bottom it has the expert village moniker. I've found other providers or users to present the same material in a more interesting and typically more correct way.

  • @mjm2005 That's all well and good, but you still haven't said WHAT is wrong with the particular Expert Village video you were critical of. Most exercise machines at gyms are designed to be idiot proof. About the only variable is adjust the seat height and distance, don't get carried away with too much weight until you got the movement down. What's missing?

  • @willieofroanoke On my first comment, did I ever specifically attack this particular video? No.  I was merely commenting on the whole group of videos rather than just picking out one.

  • Some Calve Raise machines go to 600 pounds, which will obviously ruin your back.

    I'm thinking this guy knows what he's talking about. Plus you gotta realize if you know enough about weightlifting in the first place you wouldn't have to come to a beginners video

  • This is not a Calve Raise machine, calve raises also have nothing to do with your back.

  • I mean those ones that have you lifting weight with your calves, it ruins your spine and can stunt growth at higher weight.

    Well why the fuck would they make most of those machine to 250-300 pounds if all that weight isnt necessary. You need more tension against your muscles in order for them to grow bigger. Put with heavier weight comes poorer form which is the only drawback.

    Bottom line: you won't get nice thick lats doing pussy weight like this guy suggests. Get your form right, and hit them hard and with HEAVY WEIGHT!

  • can you please listen to what he has to say all the way through before you go spewing your little temper tantrums?

    He says to not put on a lot of weight for awhile until you figure it out and get more comfortable with it, then you can start adding more weight.

    it's beginners video. if you were a trainer, you'd kill half your clients. keep in mind small women and young kids are watching this for help. stavs16 = FAIL

  • keep your chest on the pad and go a a moderate slow speed if you want full effect

  • Breathing as you lift is not advised unless you have blood pressure/cardiovascular issues, as holding your breath (actually expiring against a closed glottis, i.e. Valsalva Maneuver) helps to stabilize and protect the spine. It isn't a big deal on this lift, but with structural lifts like the deadlift or squat, you can put your spine at a great deal of risk if you try to break while lifting.
