Meh. Like early Gary Moore - endless 16th note sextuplets, hardly anything else. Very limited phrasing, good speed, but too repetitive. Does not make it sing. just imo.
Yep.. no doubt, the 'George era' was Gamalons high point.. I lived in the Boston area back then and they only came out a few times.. after seeing them once, I was so blown away by thier live performace that I drove out to Rochester NY many times to see them play when I needed a Gamalon fix. Thanks to the effort of druman44 I've been able to see many more incarnations of the band and I'm grateful for that.. and some more recent George stuff that shows he's still got it~
puleo is still my favorite guitarist that was in gamalon. nori is great but her tone just doesnt match georges. toni is sick too but again not puleo. george had the most feeling, variety, best tone, and sickest chops out of all the guitarists. bruce is one of my favs too, he doesnt get enough credit
i totally agree. Bruce is an amazing writer and player and George was the best. i got into gamalon in the tony era, and i loved that line up, but over time i got hip, essentially after hearing old bootlegs and things. the old stuff with George was magical.
Trust me on this, George is the TRUTH. What me may lack in harmonic complexity, he more than makes up for with his impeccable timing with his phrasing. Can't teach that. Tony has some incredible chops across a lot of styles, but again, not the same "feel" for Gamalon. As for Nori, what can I say other than that I'm underwhelmed with what I've seen - no pocket, completely square playing, IMHO.
George is the reason I got in to guitar.. I filmed this in a little sports pub in Rochester NY after driving 6 hours from the Boston area to see this band.. Something me and my friends did on more than one occasion.. these guys were (and still are) awesome.. Can't believe it was more than 15 years ago~
Though I no longer live in Buffalo, I saw these guys religiously for years. I learned that first record cold (the George parts anyway). Never could get into Bruce's soloing, but really dug his rhythm playing.
the mullet is giving him power

This comment has received too many negative votes show
If I could hear through all that distortion, maybe I'd hear a single note that shredder played.
Instead I got looking at the mullet, tight faded jeans and oversized tennis shoes. I am back in 80's hell!
If I could play like that dude, I would clean my sound up so I could be heard.

I stand corrected - I've seen the light. And the light is hairy. :-p

gotta respect the skills, but don't have to like this music. Playing that well almost makes mullets and short sleeve shirts look cool.
