if you don't see your moral connection (being the root of the money for your investments) to what your money funds, then you are blind. You keep focusing in on legal responsibility as a guide to moral responsibility, but they are two seperate things. A lawyer manipulating the law may be within his/her legal rights, but that still puts them in the moral wrong. In my view, if you fund a company that does "bad" things, then you are essentially involved in the "bad" thing, even if twice removed

I say that if you don't like the actions of those you're in business with or invested in, the you are responsible if you don't cease funding once you've discovered their culpability... By the way, do blame banks and the federal reserve system for many if not all of the ills of the american political establishment, and therefore I don't keep my assets in the bank, and when I do have large sums, I prefer local credit unions which operate differently.

If a person owns stock in a company which is making money, he gets paid 'dividens' on a regular basis. If you own stock, you're a part-owner. And if the company is making money, the stock goes UP in value and you can sell it at a massive profit.
