Seiffert ist ein Klasse-Sänger, für mich aber kein Heldentenor im Sinne eines Lauritz Melchior z.B. Ich finde nur bedauernswert, dass Sie einen Sänger wie Heppner als ein Nichts bezeichnen. Welch eine Anmmassung, welch eine Arroganz!

To bald22 suite : Also bitte schön, mache Sie mùal halblang. Er hat sich seinen Rang sicher nicht erschlichen. Ein etwas dezidiertres Urteil ihrerseits wäre hier angebracht. Grüsse aus Paris. Seiffert war in der Münscher Walkürenaufführung die ich geshen habe auch zu tief und rythmisch völlig daneben. Soll ich jetzt sagen, der kann GAR NICHT singen. o là là, calmez-vous!

To bald22 : So jung und so verbittert. 1. Herr Heppner war krank, hat die weiteren Aufführungen absagen müssen. Er sit auch nur ein Mensch. 2. Kommen Sie mal auf die Bühne der Bastille-Oper, dann wüssten sie, das man das Orchester absolut nicht auf der Bühne hört. Fast jeder hat hier Intonationsschwierigekeiten, vor allem bei hamonisch so vertrackten Sachen wie Lohengrin. Da ist Verdi leichter, Tonika bumbumbum. Heppner ist kein H-Tenor, ok, aber Seiffert schon gar nicht.

ich weiß ja nicht was sie für einen heldentenor halten - eines kann ich sagen - der beste heldentenor unserer zeit ist peter seiffert.. wenn sie die falschen töne von ben heppner gewohnt sind kann ich mir schon vorstellen dass ihnen seifferts siegmund zu tief erschien.. kennen sie seine tannhäuser interpretaion (barenboim)? weltklasse... das sind heldentöne mein freund.. es ist eine schande dass ben heppner sich als schüler des großen jon vockers rühmen darf!!!!!! ben heppner ist das letzte!!!!!

I heard him twice in vienna.. one time as tristan and the second time in lohengrin.. both times the critical vienneese audience was booing!!!!

if somebody here would know the aria "in fernem land" he would be able the recognise the wrong notes he sings.. it starts with the words "in fernem land"

ben heppner has a good voice but he sings wrong notes so.. away with him!

I have only seen Heppner enjoying triumphant ovations in Wagner. I dont know which evening you got in Wien ....and by the way... where exactly are the wrong notes!!?

This is an amazing artist that only compares to the top Heldentenöre in history.

you know - yesterday i saw cav and pag - jose cura was singing the bajazzo - i tell you terrible.. his days are over but the well knowing viennese audience was cheering.. and the audience of the "staatsoper" is known as a very critical.. give them arias they know and they are cheering..

i listened to this file (ben heppner lohengrin) for many times.. it starts with the word "fernem" wrong..the most terrible part is "erkennt ihr ihn.." try to listen other tenors.. i promiss its wrong..

i know what i´m talking about.. i studied the partiture.. my oppion is that he´s problems with the intonation..

for me the best lohengrin at the moment is peter seiffert..

who gives a shit about the words. Corelli didnt, especialy at the top of the voice Seiffert does not impress with his sound. You dont hear the letter m at the end of a word on stage in a big ass opera house. i guess that is why seiffert has less than half the voice and career as ben. but congrats on his intonation; im sure seiffert will go far.

I don't need to compare to other tenors. I look at the notes. I can also boast more than fluent german and I really don't understand what you hear that you don't like in this interpretation... Naja, not everybody likes Callas either...

However, we are together in your comments on the other "dramatic" tenor and I also know only too well that an ovation is not necessarily a proof of artistry...

also.. in fermen land - das wort land endet auf einem a(PARTITUR) heppner singt ein gis..

er ist regelmäßig einen halbton zu tief.. fürchterlich.. ich kenn die arie wirklich gut.. hab sie im rahmen meines studiums einstudiert... ganz ganz ganz mies gesungen..

übrigends war ich am sonntag in der cavallaria bzw. pagliacci.. jose cura.. die menge hat getobt - es war fürchterlich.. stimmlich total am ende.. ´

what is a lyric-dramatic tenor? aqnyway it is so screwed up today... he sings german/wagner and so he is a heldentenor. like an italian spinto or more what in verdi was called a heroic tenor. lauri volpi--martinelli.

He has taken the mantle of "cracking tenor" from Placi. Nice guy though.

Clifton forbis, singing at the met recently is a true heldontenor. many heldon tenors can actually sing as baritones since their voices show their money in the lower register. bens money notes are way up above the tenor passaggio.

Moreover, his move into heavy stuff is financial since his competiton for heavy rep is less. he has paid a vocal price for doing so. if anyone saw chenier at the met recently, he sang so much better as lyric/dramatic is much better for him

Ok guys, i studied with bens eacher and know ben well enough for him to call me by my first name. The truth be told he is not a heldontenor as per his teacher that made him. He IS a Lyric dramatic tenor or if you wanna talk fach, jugendlichertenor.

In my opinion, Mr. Heppner is one of the finest of tenors on the operatic stage. He not only has the obvious vocal gifts, but he is a smart singer and a great musician. Bravo Ben!!!!!!
