R.I.P. But seriously here, who was the IDIOT who designed this ship, I mean if it was designed to go across the treturous baltic sea then why didn't they have better locks, or at least a more secure design, this would have saved a lot more lives, thumbs up who agrees
@needforspeedepic according to the statistics, most of the ships with bow visior have had problems with the locking or hinges... it wasnt designers problem... the bow doors came later... R.I.P.
@needforspeedepic designer was Josh L. Mayer shipyard witch had been designed a lot of ships and systems (very experienced company) This ship wasn't designed for open sea... according to dokuments this ship sailing tange was 20NM from shore...
@volvo2403 The construction of Estonia's bow visor had a catastrophic failure in it's design and was not designed to sail in such rough sea. Still, the shipyard classed Estonia to be able to sail anywhere at any time, and so they did. There are clear signs on the wreckage that the bow visor was torn apart from the bow section of the ship. Back then there were no regulations on how the weather forecast had to be to get permission to sail.
The ship doesn't float on the car deck. Water in the car deck will therefore not deminish bouyance. It will deminish stability. It will make the ship capsize. But at the same time, any water that enters above the bouyance levels (above water line) will immediately leave the through the whole that it came from.
The visor and the ramp locks failed. But still, the ramp could shut itself and lock itself after the water entered the ship (Wtf?).
@bigpizza112 And a lock that is forced and damaged, cannot all of a sudden start working perfectly and keep loads and loads of water inside (that wants to go out). Remember, the visor could force the ramp open. And still the amount of water that is supposed to sink the vessel, cannot open it up. Even after the locks are initially trashed. The desinformation is insane. BASIC logic prevails. It's incredible how people let media think for them.
What happened in this animation should not had happened in real life. Now in the animation, do those orange arrows and their size-changing represent the amount of pressure put on the locks?
if i was on the front looking out and saw that happening i would think it would be a problem. but if i saw it come up i would run hit a fire alarm start wakeing up the ones in the rooms i was near and get to a life boat.
Titanic was bad and alot of people died, but i think THIS is the one of if not THE worst shipping diasters to date simply because it was something as simple as a faulty locking mecanisim that killed all those people. I dread to think what it must have been like upside down in a sinking ship on a stormy night in freezing water. MAY THE SOULS OF ALL THAT DIED THAT FATEFUL NIGHT REST IN PEACE FOR EVER RIP
Estonia is a good example how disgusting politics are. They do everything they can to hide something in estonia for example making it a grave for the dead. Burial is something that the closest persons choose or you choose. I doubt these persons wanted to be buried with a cruiseship in the most polluted sea in the world. Rip estonia victims
this is not the truth about what happened, it was the Swedish military, which was carrying highly explosive stuff on the boat and the boat exploded. The Swedish military did not want anyone to know about this so they wanted to quiet down and that's why they tell me that the boat sank because it was leaking into the water ... but that's not true
@Mindgate2 no it wasn't are you crazy it has been proven like 2 or 3 times already that it broke, but the real truth about it will never come out cuz the Estonie will be left on the botton of the sea! R.I.P all who died that day on that ship:'(
The visor could not have possibly fallen off like the report says. The reason being that if so, the crew would've seen the garage light from the car deck illuminating the sea in front. Nothing like that was ever mentioned by the crew or commented on in the report.
Even if the visor did come off, then why is the ramp closed underwater on the wreck?
it was bad weather and the state of the ship and the captains dicission to speed up and go fast that caused this disaster, end of story, what everybody says about it was sunked on purpase is a lie, a big fat lie
@BearpeaR I think that I know something about the ships... But thease who were investigated m/s Estonia didn't know so much... but they are still experts...
@skylineXpert Right. I even heard that the Baltic Sea had technology that could detect an explosion of as little as 800 grams and there was no explosion detected. Plus even if there was an explosion, officials said it would not be enough to cause the sinking.
@JonnyTainment only visior could not sink this ship, because the car deck is water tight... when visior falls off, how the water can go to the other rooms? water would stay on car deck and ship would be after that up side down...
the music is excellent. i dont believe whats said about why she sank. i think water entered below visor-level but, thats my opinion. its sad a real truth, an confesion for those who are to held responsible for this yet havent come. i wish that some day they revile the reason so that we all may find peace and can make peace to our mind, and those who died may rest in peace.sad when politics is more important than human lives.beautiful ship, state of art in the 90's by my opinion
