3rd best mate the SAS are second to the British SBS (Special Boat Service). The SBS undergo more extensive training than the SAS and they are only selected from the elite Royal Marines. Whereas the SAS select from all of the British forces the SBS are elitely picky.
There is no guarantee that Delta will even consider your request to try out, but being a officer helps. Your best bet is to tryout for Recon "some tough bastards" and see how you like it. That is if your hellbent on being a marine. Another option is to join the army go to jump school and try out for the rangers. The rangers are a direct combat action force that works with Delta often. The smartest thing to do is to talk to a recruiter and not to fall for the first one...remember THEY NEED YOU!
