Read a book from Toni Morrison, expand your mind, and then have compassion for someone other than yourself. In fact, if you want a history lesson read Olaudah Equiano's Slave narrative. Many slaves were captures on the coast (some bought), and particularly in the areas of modern Sierra Leone and the Ivory Coast. Irish were never slaves.

I put Dave Chapplle on my Pandora mix and they played a series of black comedians whose entire bit was some variation about white people acting different in relation to some mundane activity: whether it was raising children or the way we approach or are approached by police officers. Its so fckn depressing that black peoples cultural identity is always in relation to white people. You rarely see a white comic play the race card: as a comic you need to be universal.
