  • This song's gotta make ya smile. And Kate's hammer'n that accordion. miss her.........

  • Didnt know this was a famous song (probably in France!) In the UK however, Kirsty Maccoll nails this one!!

  • @awf1970 It was mostly popular in Québec. They lived in the Montréal area. Thanks for watching this great song

  • "Moi j'mange de la tire Sainte-Catheriiiiiiiiiine !"

    "Moi j'bois mon lait 2% graaas !"

Belle imitation du Bye Bye 84 pour une belle chanson !

  • Please, please, please bring out "Pronto Monto" on CD, now is the time..!

    R.I.P. UNE DES DEUX

  • it may be just me, but it just has a whole cajun feeling to me (besides all the childhood mems this song carries to me)

  • @Scum71succer Your sensibilities are correct. Don't forget that Cajun is a corruption of Arcadian (from Nova Scotia) and these French-speakers migrated, under duress, to Louisiana.

  • I love this song!

  • Bet you didn't expect this from me, but I really like the McGarrigle sisters and this particular song.

  • In Life or not... far more...so far better than Napoleon or J. Ceasar...

Annie and Katie LIVE WELLin my heart.

  • kirsty did not write this song

  • The fiddler is absolutely marvelous.

  • I remember the thrill of first hearing this wonderful song and its startling McGarrigle harmonies more than 30 years ago.

    R.I.P. Kate

  • Kirsty MacColl may have covered this song but she didn't write it. It was written by Anna together with Philippe Tatartcheff, who wrote the French lyrics for many of Kate and Anna's songs.

  • Correct, my bad. It was Philippe Tatartcheff

  • Indeed, this is an Anna McGarrigle & Philippe Tatartcheff song, first published on the album 'French Record'.

  • Actually it appeared even earlier, on Kate and Anna's 1975 debut album ("Kate and Anna McGarrigle").

  • Thanks! 'Dancer With Bruised Knees' is their album I like most. :)

  • rip kate, condolences to the mcgarrigle family. I never got to see them in person. now i never will );

  • Kate died? NOOOOO!!! When? How?

  • detail are on their website.

  • Sunday. She'd been suffering from sarcoma. She was 63. I don't think they'd let the public know about her illness until the death announcement.

It was a pretty big blow to a lot of people.

  • I loved her and Anna, I've been listening to their stuff all night since hearing the news here. Yeah, good old cancer. She was too young to be taken away. I'm surprised at how many of their great songs don't seem to be on YouTube, like (I don't speak French, so forgive the spelling) E Conte Dances from French Record. Thanks for the reply, take care.
