When I was a kid in the 80s I remember one of my teachers used to show PBS science programs for kids. And one time this was being shown on there because I guess the computer graphics in terms of art were novel at the time. Of course, this was defined originally as a concept film as opposed to a music video like a lot of stuff in that '79 - '81 period before MTV premiered.

Thanks - you did a great job cleaning up the video but, I'm afraid, I'm the 6th person who can't feel it - because of the missing sound effects. The Jacksons created a excellent track and, for it's time, an advance, excellent video to go with it. I feel to alter their original concept is wrong and just makes it like every other music video of it's time. Would you, for example, remove the added sound effects on Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' video? Love & Respect to The Jacksons - RIP Michael.

The Jacksons were pioneers, and one of my all time fave bands, this clip, is quite possibly the best use of a video to promote a song I have ever seen, the song and clip compliment and justify each other, it's a beautiful match....thumbs up for this, once the most expensive clip ever made....

Something that has always kind of bugged me was the VOLUME of those sound effects! I do love hearing the MUSIC. Thank you. But as a couple of people have said, the sound effects did add something. I don't suppose there's a way to have them, just... turn the volume of the sound effects down, while keeping the music up?

Your source footage is so exceptionally good, would you be able to upload the version with sound effects as well, even though the audio wouldn't be remastered? The audio would still be leaps and bounds above any other YouTube uploads. This is my favorite video ever :)

I knew that removing the "sound effects" by totally re-striping the audio would be "controversial". But, that's my bias - "sound effects" in music videos irritate me. I always remaster them out.

For those who really dig the "sound effects" in this clip, there are a lot of copies of this video on YouTube which people can watch to their heart's content.
