  • I can't really say anything bad about Vengerov, but I will say this:

Nobody plays this piece better than Perlman.

  • Vengerov is a great violinist and musician, he doesn't deserve this criticism. I do agree that I would much rather listen to him play showpieces rather than the Beethoven concerto, but let's see you all do a better job, eh?

  • he's absolutely amazing,

    simply the best ¡¡

  • I also think that the recording lacks, what one would call "Spielwitz" in German... the orchestral parts are great though

  • People coming on here and criticizing vengarov's playing need to open their goddamn ears.

  • Too much swag,,,, Tooooooo much swag... that's why he stopped violin

  • i didnt like the cadenza at all...

  • he's good but he's no perlman.

  • My my, this comment wall is full of small, jealous people. I've seen the guy live, he's a genius. Get lives, all of you.

  • This is unacceptable. The tempo at the beginning was so bad. You could not tell the rhythm. SHAME ON THIS TOTALLY OVERRATED HACK.

  • I like the crisp toned violin of Chung Wha Chung and her playful version of this piece.... I thought Vengerov is playful enough. change channel guys!

  • @patcalisura love Chung also. What's wrong with some people? There are a number of great talents out there now that Heifetz and Oistrakh are no longer with us. Also there is Mutter and of course this guy, Maxim Vengerov. He is definitely amongst the best now. So is Chung. I love them both.

  • Chingado Vengerov, ha de ser Argentino, es super pedante, pero muy buen violinista. !!!!

  • vengerov plays everything like a russian gipsy - sometimes it sucks ...

  • Did you ever notice that musicians never cough?

  • James May on first violin lol. Nah, fantastic performance, this video got me really into his violin concerto, the Larghetto is probably my favourite movement. In fact this was one of those often rare cases where a piece of music instantly grabs you, but this did :D especially as this is a particularly powerful version - I hate it when the orchestra plays this all boredly and almost politely, it sucks away the passion!

  • Brilliant!

  • wow this man is crazy, wonderfull cadenza...

  • I'm really impressed you got the whole thing on your cell, nice job!

  • cool cadenza.

  • I'd take Repin's Beethoven over Vengerov any day...

  • One of the most overrated violinist ....

  • Why do soooo many people have an issue with Vengerov??? I've yet to figure it out. I immensely enjoy his playing, his phrasing, his feeling, and musicality.

  • Cause at certain point, he overdoes it... It is what teachers would call distasteful playing, and since most of us come from tasteful teachers -- we are not sure how to react to it. It is seriously is over the top sometimes -- like if you watch his movements and face, then close your eyes and listen to the music -- it is almost like he's just doing a show and it ruins the music in the end. Otherwise, he's a great artist -- that i'll give you.

  • I strongly disagree with you... but that's ok......

  • HAHA, I'm only half saying -- there are things he is musicality untouchable on... Ballade Ysaye -- infamous video...

  • @SCH0P3NHAU3R

he's overrated because he is talented.....dumbass

  • to be honest, i dont like this somehow... did he make that cadenza??

  • Cadenzas were supposed to be improvised.

  • I dont get all these negative comments, it makes no sense, is it because nobody can play like this? maybe. musicians, understand this, we need artist, and we need fresh new interpretations!! Vengerov is not killing the music, there is no "one way"to play, thats what makes music so awesome in our field, so lighten up.

  • Well said!

  • Hey come on, he's a showman. the full package!

  • he's really funny. Yeah... his facial expression is really interesting. I really love his interpretation of Meditation-Thais by Jules Massenet though. I wish I can see him playing live. Does anyone know his concert schedule?

  • Vengerov love to shows himself to the public...Every time I see him he does a little bit more, a little bit more a little bit more...Next step, he will play with John Galliano or whatever...

  • great performance

  • Girshenko is a real big musician and violinist. He is the concertmaster of this orchestra. Vengerov use (abuse) Beethoven to show himself. Near Girshenko, Vengerov plays like a student!

  • vengerov? no doubt that's him. But horenstein? As in, *the* jascha horenstein? horenstein died in 1973. That's three decades before this recording was made.

    perhaps you meant *g*orenstein.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. That's just fucking hilarious. That made my day. Good job.

  • This music is just fantastic. Shame about the camcorder-quality of the vid

  • boring....no offense but it is

  • There's one teacher of mine! Girshenko the first violin!

  • hmm...i don't like this. for some reason, i find myself bored with vengerov's interpretation

  • i saw this on tv.I didn't like this recording. The orchestra covers Maxim Venfrov too much some times

  • This Record, made Ilive without a professional camera...sure, the sond is not a stereo sharp. About the Maxim Vengerov, Virtuoso Ever, and very nice player. Congrags Vengerov!!!

  • Actually I don't like it.

  • Mil gracias por esta joya.
