wow i am reading in the comments and a lot of people don't know this information. i am shocked they must have removed this from the public schools i am only 23 but when i was in 10th grade i was taught all of this.

This breaks my heart, i am hispanic, born in new mexico, i have native friends from different tribes, apache, navajo, and others. I have blue eyes and light skin but i have a spanish last name . I speak spanish and english but i hate what happened to the natives, natives should run this country instead of the white devil. They would have made this country a much better place. On 1:50 notice what the lady said " The Natives was not viewed as human beings" Lot of whites now today are claiming to be part Cherokee or any other Indians, I wonder why when their people saw us as NOT HUMAN BEINGS and I find that very funny now. I am so sorry that our government did this to such a beautiful people. I wish we could go back in time and change what happened, but of course we cannot. As an 8th grade Social Studies teacher, I try to make sure that my students are fully aware of what our country did and hope that they can learn empathy from such a horrific tragedy.

The first time when i saw an indian was at tv,in a movie and he was represented by a barbarian who kills and scalpes "innocent" cowboys , but after searching on internet and reading a small part of Winnetou by Karl May i figured out the truth ....they are so good ppl , i wish i have an indian friend :(

Its very real and it did happen looks like the government or history will never accept this... it sad and bad thing that happen to any people.. in my native place some of them tell this kind of bad situation should not even come to my enemy, by the way I am from southern India. I feel bad that our richness in the past triggered the Spaniards/British to look for India... North American natives got in the middle and took the sufferings in the hands of Spaniard; we later fell to the British!

My fathers clan & mothers fled from oklahoma to Arkansas now called Ouachita national forrest where they lived old ways till around 1950, I visited there a few years later, much hardship they endured but never complained taught us tsalagi way. They are gone now and I am old but still long for peace of heart in these matters.

I have forgiven, but for my grandmother's memory, I can never forget. I don't blame Spain, Briton, or France for anything their ancestors did hundreds of years ago. Cherokee people are more fortunate than some other Indian tribes such as Lakota, Hopi, Navajo. I blame our own government for their continued greed for their reservation lands and for all the broken treaties and promises. Watch Russell Means vids here on youtube.
