@Daydragon1234 ... they're not bad. i finally tuned my 4-channel amp the way it's supposed to be. i've been robbing my speakers of power for years. the 12" type-r can get pretty loud, but i'm sure the ported box helps with that. it hits harder than my two subs in this video. buuuuut, i've only been getting alpine so i can't give a good comparison to other brands, and none of my other friends are into audio. sucks
@thaguru2 alright cool tyvm. :) i might get alpine or kenwood. but i'd have to agree with you. my friends arn't into it either. my 2-3 cousins are but they work. so barley have time to ask them.
@MrThollo ... with one 2 Farad, my headlights still dimmed when i cranked it up. my neighbor sold me another one for 20 bucks, and when i added that, i haven't noticed much dim at all. that's the only brand i've tried though. other companies may make a better quality capacitor. i've had a few comments saying that i won't need a cap if i do the big three.
@Syrius187 ... the only thing i've done is used peel and seal on the rear panel (where the rear speakers are) to help keep that panel from vibrating against the metal of the car... tried the same stuff on the trunk, but it looks shitty. OH! got dynamat on the license plate, and added two more screws (4 total). that worked miracles... my whole setup is different now though. got video of my new setup on my channel. i still like my old one better though :-/
To need some help hooking up my iPod to it, as I go through the features like USB disc and aux etc, mine doesn't show iPod, I wondering if you can help.
@TheXBLEST ... i know it doesn't work with the older ipods. and the ipod option doesn't show up unless you have an ipod connected. the cord that my headunit came with doesn't even charge my iphone when it's connected, but it'll play music :-S
@thaguru2 Just the CD player, not really my style it kinda breaks up the flow of the dash, that was kind of a harsh comment though, must of been having a bad day, haha. It's your car so you can do whatever you want with it.
@paintedd ... nah, it's cool... i didn't take it negatively. that cd deck had all the features i was looking for (mainly the USB interface). the dash kit is doodoo though, anyway
@24769pat ... it's got good bass, haha!! i already sold that enclosure to my buddy. i kept the amps and redid my setup. the subs are sitting around at my house, cuz one has a blown coil
@WarrockWeapons ... all my speakers have been fine. the only thing to go wrong has been my main power wire fuse. do you have one amp for your speakers and one for your subwoofer? or are you getting the signal for your sub from your back speakers?
@WarrockWeapons ... ah... i think there's a crossover/subwoofer gain adjustment module under the rear deck where the speakers are. i think it's under the panel or on the inside of the trunk. i can't remember off the top of my head... that may be where you want to start looking for the problem
im a noob so just wondering, i have an amp to power my subwoofer in the trunk, but my speakers sound distorted and soft. do i need to change all the speakers or do i just use the amp to power it? or am i just retarded and should just stfu haha. i really have no idea so just seeking help.
@it4chi ... i always say upgrade the speakers and add an amp for the speakers if you have subwoofers in. there's no point in having good bass if you can't hear the treble. and make sure everything is tuned the best you can to get the best sound...
@thaguru2 Boat was really cheap, it WAS a piece of shit :P cost me about 1741,79 . That's with calculating Norwegian Kroner Intro Us Dollars :P
My stereo costed me about 975,4dollars, also using a "value calculator"(?) :P And some paint and such /carpets in the boat i guess... 1219,25dollars , (calculator aswell)^^, So all in all , i used 2194,65 dollars, wich is more than the boat itself costed me :P
@sk8er6000 ... i have a friend that works in a shop.. he ordered it for me from somewhere... it's a Metra dash kit for an 06-08 civic. it's alright. it's not the perfect shape for the 09 because they changed the curves a bit from the previous year and i doesn't line up perfectly with the rest of the dash...
@bsiffy ... something like that... maybe i added in the cost of wiring kits and materials for making the box... oh well... that setup is gone now. i bought one 12" type-r and made a ported box for it... it's louder than those two type-s 12s. i've been meaning to get a video up for it but keep putting it off
@bsiffy ... oh i know what i did... i was reading off of a list of parts for my stereo and probably added in the cost of that sound processor (which i don't have yet)... my bad.
why would you spend about $1500 on this system? I'm getting the same exact thing basically (all alpine's with dual 12's) for about $700...how did you pay so much?
did you have a navi? and replace it with the alpine in-dash? how much did the custom box, subs, and amps all in all cost you? cause i have a 08 civic si sedan and im tryna get this same set up. thanks
@15pinoyboy ... the dealership actually talked me out of the navigation model. built the custom box with my dad. didn't cost more than 60 bucks for wood and stuff.
mono amp - 200
got a deal on the subs for 220
4-ch amp - 200
2 farad cap - 100
6.5" two-ways - 170
6.5" (woofers and tweeters) - 200
Headunit - 300
OH... dash kit was 75 bucks and the harness i got bypassed the internal amp, so i HAD to use my 4-channel amp. they may make a different kind, but i'm not sure.
@MrBobby3342 ... i know a lot of people debate it, but i think it does. my headlights used to dim a lot when i cranked up the volume, but not so much after i put the capacitor in. then my neighbor gave me a 2nd cap for 20 bucks, and i put that in too. it DOES make a difference though.
@EDDYCER ... i had the trunk closed when i was sitting in the car, it probably wouldn't have sounded as good if the trunk were opened when the camera was in the car. i've done a lot of sound tuning since then (threw in a 2nd capacitor cuz my neighbor gave it to me for 20 bucks, added some generic sound dampening to the rear panels, polyfil in the sub box)... i got a new camera too, so i'll probably be posting more really soon...
@DBALLA9 ... i'm sure you can. i've never added subwoofers to a stock stereo. maybe you can use a line-out converter connected to the stock subwoofer connector? i've seen people keep the stock stereo and add subwoofers to their system, but i've never asked how they do it.. wish i had a better answer for you, man
@Jnk42O ... a lot. with the head unit, all the speakers, subs, both amps, 2 capacitors, dash kit and wires, it ran around 1500. then however much the wood costed for the sub enclosure. no labor costs either, cuz i did all the wiring and wood cutting myself. i'm getting a sound processor sometime soon. it'll make it sound so much clearer...
@thaguru2 Jesus, I respect you did it all yourself. MY max is going to be $1000, it's gunna take me a while to get a car though. Get a nicer video when you get the sound processor, and I want to make a request, lol.
@Jnk42O ... i never expected to spend that much on mine. i just bought the 6.5" 2-ways, subs, mono amp, and capacitors for my Si. everything else came from my previous cars from the past 7 years or so (headunit, front speakers, mono amp). so it was a build instead of all happening at once.
@hueroxxal100 ... nice. i don't think i could put that much bass in my civic though, haha. maybe if i had an suv, i'd go all out like that... hell, i've got two 12" alpine type-Es and another alpine amp collecting dust in my apartment... maybe i'll use them. nah.. i should probably just sell them...
@Josejaree ... i got the metra dashkit. it's basically the whole radio and ac controls. you'll just have to move the controls from the stock dash to the new one. the molding of the kit isn't an exact matchup to the old one, but the color is almost identical... it took me a while to get the confidence to start changing stuff out in my car.
@danielneri2 ... there's a power distribution block on the other side of the enclosure (behind the seats). it's possible. i'm probably going to upgrade my battery in the long run. the amp at the bottom is running my highs and mids, and the one above it is for the subwoofers.
is alpine good with sound volume?
