Roughly two years ago, aimlessly searching the Internet one night, I came across this video. Already knowing Tennyson's ballad fairly well, I was totally mesmerized by this video. In fact I spent the entire night watching it. It was a severe blow when it was removed one day... That the video is back online now is one of life's gifts. Slides, music and lyrics blend into a new and very expressive work of art. This is a truly healing experience. Simply beautiful!
@noerumberg Thank you so much! It was removed for a while because of rights for the music. Then one day I saw it was back. I was pretty happy about it. I really loved making it and am so glad it's gotten such positive responses. Thanks again!
This, clearly, is one of the absolute best videos on youtube!! One of my favorite songs by my favorite female vocalist. Your video captures the essence!
I havent heard of her before. and imi not ready to dis Enya, but I love this genre of music, and my spiritual home is the Old Ways. Can someone recommend an album to fully introduce us?
BTW, to the woman who has hair like hers....how lucky you are!
To start I would recommend Loreena McKennitt's CD "The Visit". It has this song (Lady of Shalott), Greensleeves, All Souls Night and several other beautiful songs. She is an exceptional talent and if you ever have an opportunity to see her in concert, I strongly recommend you take it! She does not disappoint!
As to Enya~ there is no rule that says you can't enjoy her as well! :)
There she weaves by night and day A magic web colours gay, She has heard a whisper say, A curse is on her is she stay To look down to Camelot. She knows not what the curse may be, And so she weaveth steadily, And little over care hath she, The Lady of Shalott. {From Anne of Green Gables} Anne Shirley make the story to live again and I like the song and the music,in the story an I heard it everyday.
While I think this particular version of McKennitt's Lady of Shallott is not her best as it is too fast and more difficult to comprehend the lyrics.
I think you did a thoroughly impressive job and would love to see you set these photos to Lorena's original cut from her 1st or 2nd album... thanks for investing your time and sharing this with us.
Dis song is sooo kick ass! This is de motha effin jam! My death metal band is doing a cover song of this, hopefully it can be as good. Check us out: EyeSocketGougers
what a voice its intriged me for a long time, it makes me think of women in amost different light, not just to keep me warm at night and make my tea an toast, you can tickle my back anytime
Thank you for sharing. My love and I have shared this song for eternity. The compilation is of graceful composition and artistic sight. And of course Loreena's voice of magic.
I love this. You have real talent thank you for sharing this. You matched the images to the song so beautifully and Lena Headey is so beautiful and fit the mood perfectly thank you again for sharing this.
i have studied this poe at school and when i heard this song, i was amazed!!! i read between the lines of this peom so i know what the imagery, symolism and personifications and other things mean!!!
well done lorenna and for you that gave us this beautiful video!!!!
If I were on a desert island and could only take one song, it just might be this one. One of my very, very favorites! Thanks to Loreena's great musicality and voice, and to Lord A. Tennyson for the poem--the words are verbatim to his poem. It struck me in the final verse, that to say a woman had a beautiful face at the time of King Arthur was the ULTIMATE compliment to a woman: "Lancelot mused a little space, he said she has a lovely face..." Tennyson was a wise man.
Absolutely love everything about this: love the imagery, love the poem, love Loreena McKennitt (song), love Gerry Butler...best vid I've seen so far!!!!!! BIG kuddo's
Oh gosh you are right...her voice is amazing! Entrancing. I like not only this one but a few others of Loreena McKennitt; Courtyard Lullaby, All Souls' Night, The Old Ways, so many are just lovely.
