you shouldnt feed them alive meal worms cus they tend to store them in their cheeks and then unstore them and the meal wormsbreed in its cage....and they can choke your hamster wruiggling around in theit pouch
im not being nasty.... but im just giving you advise
He stuffs them in his cheek pouches, won't he feel ticklish? if you keep mealworms and some of them turns into beetles, do we still give the hamster the beetles? But I know I'll be too terrified to touch them..
I would think that they would be squirming in his pouch, but I've seen him tuck them in the corner of his cage. And yes he does eat the beetles too! :)
Meal worms are a great source of protein for your hamster. You can also do tofu if you dont like the "worm" :) commercial hamster food is mostly seeds, this is not too good for your hamster, they really need a variety of veggies and fruit, protein and then seeds. Seeds can be too fattening and result in disease in your hamster. There are many websites with a listing of fresh foods you can give your little ham guy. :) Thanks for surfing in!
I feed mine fresh carrots and some slices of apples and i guess i will just have to buy those little worms lol even if i dont like them but if they will be happy and healthy i will do it!
they are actually a great source of protein for the hams and you can get them at the pet store (mealworms) so they are clean and free of diseases. If you still don't want to try that, you can give them tofu! That's another great source of protein. Regular seed type of hamster food just isn't enough for them nutritionally.
Oh my! Great video! That was something! Those worms moving and crawling... eeeeee! Mr Hammi Pants is such a brave fearless hammie. Chmurka would run away at the sight of those worms! :)

If you search for Timsterii, you can see his hamster eat a cricket, lizard, and baby mouse. They will eat ANYTHING they can overpower.

Then you are depriving your hamster of a good natural protein source.
