I've pretty much lost all faith in the Sims franchise at this point, and every time I see the development staff talk excitedly about their latest project just pisses me off.

It's not that I have problems with the games they make. It's the way they try to squeeze money out of their consumers. It's trite. Hopefully this game won't be closely followed by a sweep of expansion packs.

looks nice but not realistic. why do almost all medieval games include magic? it makes them lame. and its always based in europe. mount and blade is much better. the medieval sims would be better if you could play in a realistic europe and middle east. have crusades, build your kindom or swear allegiance to an old kingdom. that would be cool! :D

Obviously Fable 1-3 and world of warcraft are major money makers. This game is trying to imitate the same format. I love the sims and i love fable rpg, never wanted to see a cross breed. The frustrating error that will arise from this game is that you can not kill invaders, and antagonists. You can only beat them with an array of threats. Honestly that defeats the purpose if medevil times.

They're in two different planes.

One is a first-hand experience RPG game set in a completely alternate universe.

The other is a strategy RPG game, set in this universe, in a much earlier time frame...

@smokeordie08 The sims speak gibberish for many reasons. First off, it would be hard to make fluid conversations that made sense in an actual language. Also, instead of having them speak English, they speak their own language, and so people aren't begging for a version in their language.

@ShrougerNite I really think this is going to be re-hash of Sims 3. I doubt there will be outside forces that would harm your Sim(s) and that Sims Medieval will provide a PG rated view of the Medieval world: no bloodshed, no wars, little fighting; if there's a lot of fighting, there will be very few 'deaths'. I usually find monotony in Sims' games, because you have such control over your Sim, there are hardly any surprises. There are never any unexpected events that would jeopardize your Sim.

It's not an expansion. It's a separate game. It looks awesome, and I'd get it for myself, but the downfalls are.. no building (so I heard) and you can have children, but there's no age transition. So it's almost Sims 1 all over again. Why couldn't they have made it into an expansion, and allowed age transition? I don't understand it..

But I don't think it is a mistake, there have been many spin off games from EA, such as The Sims Castaway, Bustin' Out, etc. The only difference is that many, MANY people wanted this in the sims 3, without the lack of freedom and indefinite playing. In the latest reviews, it was said that "The Sims Medieval will also have a starting point, middle and end point, where your session ends and you are given a score..."

@wererat2000 The time machine from the Ambitions EP was just a mere example. The Medieval EP (if existed) could bring its own time machine. Not being an EP is gonna hurt their sales and turn off many of the Sims players, although I don't doubt that It will still sell pretty good. Linking it to TS3 would have been better in many ways and I bet they would have made more money. After all, we already have neighborhoods with World Adventure with quests. But well, it's done anyways :P.

Many people (and I will include myself) do not like The Sims "spin-off" games, specially when it has a lot of potential as an EP, or at least it would have. If you check many of the Sims 3 community sites, you will find many, many people that have zero interest in it, specially for the lack of sandbox mode.
