Technology without compassion and empathy will simply lead to more war. Technology is simply a tool (at least until AI adopts major creative forms of independent decision making). Psychopathic leadership (pathocrats) are the major problem. Until people are aware these individuals lacking the capacity for empathy exist, they will continue to fight against the progress towards a world of abundance.

Yes, the world is already abundant but know there is active opposition to abundance.

Abundance huh? So why doesn't this guy just sell his book to us for $1 as an ebook rather than ripping us off with a print-and-paper style book for $20 odd dollars.

This talk is a great reminder that goodwill can profilerate like never before. We have good reason to have higher expectations for humanity and confidence in the young. The moral dimension of life lies in what we invision to create.

But all this is based on energy. And we still don't have a valid alternative to Petrol. While we use it faster and faster exponentially. So unless this is considered, the book is really lacking in predictive power (which is the worse thing for a book on the future). SO I would sugget to buy this book, and buy also "the crash Course" from Chris Martenson and then reach your own conclusion based on the two opposite views. (No I don't get any money from Martenson)

@pietrosperoni I understand your concern, however, please understand that petrol will be sufficiently outdone when the price performance of alternatives reach that tipping point against fossil fuels, it's headed there.

@pietrosperoni We have the power of the sun. Solar power techonlogy is getting better and better.

Also, if cold fusion turns out to be real, it will change everything. Next year we will know, then it will come out the first commercial product.

The world at present has 250+ years of natural gas supply in reserve and this also applies to coal as well.

Nanotechnology can reduce carbon up to 95% of current level by carbon scrubbing.

Combine this with solar, cold fusion, wind, wave and geothermal and future energy is a New Frontier.

Petrol at one point was not considered an alternative to oil until the engineering structure was created.

Solar is a viable alternative to petrol based systems in certain environments but at present does have limiting factors that inhibit product ranges.

But that is not to say that it is not starting to compete with petrol.
