If you look , you'll see the size of the material is not from clear cutting. Probably thinning defective, crooked, or otherwise unusable for lumber. It gives the good trees more light and food from the forest floor.

@brcoli I guess if they are replanting trees that would be one thing but I don't like to see forests cleared for power generation as it is very ineffecient. the best form of power generation is nuclear.
