They are probably the best singers of this song, but they can't act very well... at least in this scene. Eponine has been building up these intense emotions the entire play, and she's got ulterior motives. Marius is finally realizing that he loves Eponine, and now she's dying, his best friend. He should look at least a BIT heartbroken... he looks like he lost a couple of dollars, not his best friend. Other actors rip my heart out when they do this!
You've got to watch this 3 times at least. One time to watch Lea's amazing acting. One time to watch Michael amazing acting. And a third time just to listen to their heavenly voices harmonize perfectly.
This is a modern day treasure, the consummate version of this song. Lea Salonga was the very best Eponine and Michael Ball the very best Marius. Thanks for this wonderful posting.
Samantha and Nick were good at this song, but seriously can it get any better than this? Michael and Lea are so cute in this! I love that he is actually holding her while Nick just held Sam's hand.
@LADYROCK101 This may be true, that Lea and Michael are better singers, and they are holding each other, but the acting is SO not there. Michael looks mildly sad. He should be so tragically heart wrenching that you want to throw yourself off a cliff. Nick is a bit less "professional" with his performance, but there's so much real, strong, pent up emotion in his voice AND his body language.
1. This is so much better than the 25th anniversary one, because they are holding each other instead of just standing next to each other and singing.
2. I just want to cry when I see Gavroche looking at them, he's so sad as he watches her die... but it's also just a tad bit awkward because this is supposed to be kind of a private moment for them...
Guys, it's a concert version!!!!! Chill the comments about acting!

amazing. you can never even compare Nick Jonas to Michael Ball, or Samantha Barks to Lea Salonga. It's comparing an apple to an orange. absurd.

Lea Salonga as Kim in Miss Saigon on Broadway - dies.
Lea Salonga as Eponine in Les Miserables on Broadway - dies.
Lea Salonga as Fantine in Les Miserables on Braodway - dies.
Ironic, no?

Lovely song, but important information about the scene is obscured by the pop-up ad by Google. Stupid Bastards!

First she played Eponine and then 15 years later she played Fantine. Let me tell you Lea Salonga can do it all!

Samantha Barks and Nick Jonas are both very talented, but nothing compares to this.

2 things to say:

@kookooskitchen I believe they stuck him in there because in the original doorstopper (i.e. the book) Gavroche was her brother.
