Regardless of the insensitive treatment of Indians - those male dancers at the beginning of the scene are wearing some incredibly risque' outfits for televison is 1968! lol!
How: two weeks' rehearsal HAHAHAH this was awesome!!! Thank you so much for sharing! Especially cool as I'm actually living on a native indian reserve now...!
I can't believe this video has been posted in earnest for people's viewing enjoyment. I was looking for a performance of this song to show a friend the sickening stereotypes and racist subject matter that pervaded (still pervades) so much American cinema. There was never any excuse for this type of nonsense, but at least it used to be commonly accepted. That people still watch and enjoy such spectacles today, when we all ought to know better, is despicable.
@lmrickford Eh, excuse me - this is not one bit racist , it is just a song from years ago and appeared in annie get your gun. By the way this is not american cinema is a British show. Cliff Richard is british, was actually born in India & is part indian. Many people sing this song so does that make loads of people racist?? I'll post whatever i like, if you don't like something don't watch it, OK. You are pathetic for making such a comment!
@dorisdayno1 "this is not one bit racist, it is just a song from years ago." Brilliant point. I stand corrected. Clearly the further back in history we go, the less racism there is. Or perhaps your point is that in the 1960s, it was totally fine to lampoon Native American culture in a lurid, offensive manner. That's probably what you mean. I'm sorry for misunderstanding.
@lmrickford this is not rasist you sing aboyt wherever your from/ he is from india( other india but who cares) A ENGLISH PERSON MIGHT SING A SONG ABOUT AMERICA BUT IS THAT RASIST? the song is about an indian singing about being indian they wouldnt put a rasist song in a musical would they O.M.G. do you sing about whetre your from or is it too \\\\rasist////// soz to mean but its true this aint rasist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@lmrickford So if people sing about being a scotsman, being a cowboy, being whatever that is racist.. what is your infatuation with red indians, is there simply nothing else for you to worry about... the song is about someone who is a indian saying that they are indian - simple as that, get over it! hundreds of people sing it Betty Hutton, Doris Day the list goes on. If you asked 10 million people do you think this song is racist only 1 person would reply yes & that's You!
@lmrickford Have you ever watched westerns or a cowboy & indian film they're cowboys they're indians...I'm scottish, you're american! I like westerns i like cowboys i like red indians! you're sad, goodbye - don't write back!
@dorisdayno1 actually the song is pretty racist, it's saying that anyone can be an indian if they have all that stuff they're naming in the song. Also look how dumb they make natives seem. you're just too ignorant to see it.
@dorisdayno1 I think there's a reason why Brits tend to refer to Native Americans as "Red Indians" because of the huge Indian (as in from the Subcontinent) community over there.
The only thing that would have made this video perfect is if Cliff had worn the Indian outfit too. :) :) :) I just picture him in the Tarzan outfit instead. LOL
@cliffBwithme Yep, that would be the clip..."to die for"? haha... It nearly killed me!!! They really should put warning lables on some of his vids :o))
@alittlenluv HaHa, he was so cute when he was at school, definetely a handsome wee boy and he grew up to be gorgeous too. I said to my nieces a while ago when i shoed them pictures of cliff when he was a wee boy, i said "i bet you would have loved to have him in your class at school" and they all said "mm yes".
@dorisdayno1 Yes, he was a beautiful child, and he grew to be sush a handsome man. If he had been in my class at school, I would not have learned anything. ;-)
@dorisdayno1 I have always had an eye for cute boys with dark hair and eyes. I used to get in trouble in kindergarten for kissing a little boy named Ricky. He resembled Cliff except his hair had more curl to it. I learned a lot in school, not the least of which was, don't get caught kissing the boys! LOL
@cliffBwithme Thanks, i really tried for you but because my finders keepers DVD is a copy it is not going to work, oh i'm really annoyed, i really wanted to put it on youtube for you and others to see - i'm really sorry. Ps cliff would look great in any outfit!
@cliffBwithme Thank goodness he didn't, my heart could not have taken that! But, he made up for the lack of indian attire, by dressing as Tarzan later in this show! WOWOWOWOW!!!
@cazziekins Oh really?? Wanna borrow some of mine...I checked the bottle and it shows no totem pole restrictions (that is unless the totem pole is being driven).
@dorisdayno1 You made me the laughter, just before going to sleep, that's alright ! It is true that Cliff was born in the Indies, But they are not the same Indians. Hahahaha lolol
Once again, let's make something out of nothing. we're getting good at that here on Planet Earth.

Ironically, Cliff Richard really is an Indian... well, 1/4 Indian... but the other kind of Indian (i.e. the ones in Asia).
