  • hey man nice video, was wondering if the end of that could be used to open bottles. im a beginner knife maker and was thinking about a handle clip like that one but wider and square.

  • Real nice, but I'd prefer my 20" bladed Cheness ko-katana (chisa katana), because you can get two hands on it... or better yet, my cold steel assegai spear blade that I mated to my homemade shovel handle - yes a D-handled short shovel handle - ultimate close quarters non-gun combat weapon. But that thing is much prettier.

  • It seems well made, well balanced with an ergonomic, simple handle design.

    .

the survival usability is questionable other than for cutting low branches and vegetation.

. it doesn't have the maneuverability of a knife for carving and it doesn't have the chopping action of an axe and it's not a saw.

    .

it's a very short weapon, still without the option of easy concealed carry.

  • back i say!

  • too long for a knife and too short to be a sword, so wtf is it supposed to be?

after slicing up a few water melons it becomes useless.

    then again, your money,your choice.

  • trying to be legolas are we?

  • @theSaltCat lol xD

    .

  • блин я думал он девку замочит

  • just a random comment: trolololol

  • the bushsword. must say, that mirror polish is impressive! no joke, that's near perfect. complements to whoever made it.

  • hey nice blade.but stop swinging the thing.we get it.and ashley is too young to obey u.so put up the knife and watch your kid.no offence intended.

  • @kickingbird2012 you woulnd't post the comment if you didn't mean to offend, seeing as this is 2 years ago, and its not live TV, so your comment can have no value. lets also add that I'm pretty sure I have more concern for her safety than a stranger watching my video, and she is clearly not too young to obey me as evidenced by not walking into my blade. regards.

  • @kickingbird2012 Shut the fuck up asshole.

  • @Ozjourneyman There are a million weapons that could be considered a tool first "dummy";what I said was this knife is a weapon and that means I believe it was a "tool" for chopping down people not brush get it?The guy is stoned so you have to baby step with him otherwise his clouded brain doesn't get it.

knives short or long blah blah blah hit the bong again or pop another personality killer, everyone else understands but you.

  • @azelmish im pretty sure that a katana would break as it is designed for, if i am correct, fighting purposes? while this blade is clearly called 'bush sword' so its made for camping/wilderness purposes, i think anyway lol2

  • Nice defensive knife;lets face it this is a weapon not a tool of a knife.

  • @blitzspeer I hate to break it to you but all knives be they long or short are weapons. Don't let this revelation dim your view however because they are in fact an implement and by definition a tool. A soldiers toolkit consists of weapons after all.

  • Thumbs up if you thought he was gonna chop stuff with it.

  • @jrmhrpr hehe.. I chop plenty of stuff with it in the testing videos :D

  • @azelmish katanas are overrated

  • STEP BACK ASHLEY! LOL, ASHLEY 4 the NEXT REVIEW?!?! THUMBS up if you want her input!

  • @CaptainFeltcher lol.. she does enjoy a good knife video

  • STEP BACK ASHLEY!

  • Looks like a giant butter knife

  • @azelmish Based on your very short inexperienced comment my answer would hold no value to you. suffice it to say that the average blade you are referring to would break while this was still working hard. in Japanese this is a Katana.. Katana is a generic word meaning long blade. what you probably meant to say was a Nihonto. But this blade is the size of a wakazashi.

  • i swear your in a park?

  • @ajm8096 yes, i am in a park.

  • @knivesandstuff your alowed to wave a knife around in a public place?:L in uk you get like 3 years just for carrying one lol

  • That thing is sweet!

  • Looks nice, I like the custom sized handle and rounded edges. Enjoy cuttin' stuff !

  • @nolideleon2010 Of course you would agree. you are the same idiot child from phillipines. :) you are also blocked because you are clearly a baby, and this is adults only.

  • @eboydragon clearly you show how little you know about anything with your comments. you have baby tongue ;)

  • @eboydragon another child playing mens games

  • Stay back ashley!

  • @FrikkenChicken hehe. she was young back then, and while attentive the last thing I need is my poor girl jumping just while I demo swing the blade :D Wrong kind of testing!

  • That thing is amazing

  • @hockeyluver93 Thanks.. its a really impressive performer.. takes 1.5" bamboo cuts without even trying. I'm just building the prototypes now of its smaller brother (the Turmoil) which is a 14" blade.

  • what a beast! looks similar to a katana, how does it perform for chopping and clearing brush. also, have you slaughtered anyone with it yet?? j/k ;-)

  • @iAmTheSurvivalist LoL. it performs very well. there are some videos demonstrating how well it works. also, you can look for "ckc Dragon" which is my D2 sword I make.

  • Hey Ky, I was wondering if you have had any experience with the swamp rat waki. I just ordered one today, because I need a heavy duty blade for bushcraft for the upcoming hunting season; as there is no way that I am going to chip up my cold steel Gurkha Kukri (VG1 is so overrated). What do you think of SR-101 steel, and the swamp rat waki?

  • @RebelWrestler45 Hey Mate. I'm not a fan of the Waki, but dont let that knock you as I've not handled one. the steel they use is absolutely awesome .Like most of their knives, it may need a little reprofiling before you'll see the best of it. For me, I just feel that the blade length to handle ratio is all out of proportion. Heavy Duty it will be and I hope you enjoy it.. do a video if you can. if it was 3" more blade and 3" less handle I'd have got one :) Now I just make my own :)

  • @knivesandstuff Yeah, it does seem that the balance point will not be favorable to heavy chopping because of the extra long handle; but hopefully the blade length and overall heft will make up for it. Thanks again Ky.

  • @RebelWrestler45 I guess you just hold it right back on the handle, and the SweetSpot needs to be determined :)

  • LOL SHOWING OFF YOUR KNIFE WHEN YOUR DOUGHTER IS THEIR lol jk great looking knife!!!

  • @Armstrong202 hehe.. When you are (was) a single father, the daughter does everything with you :) Luckily she loves knives.

  • where did you get this knife

  • @falsto24 Read the description. ;) "Ranger Knives"

  • whats the steel? (looks to be stainless) and it looks to have a convex grind? whats its use? as a bush knife i dont know why you want a rounded back edge, makes it hard (read imposable) to strike a spark

  • @HomeDistiller Why an earth would I want to strike a sparc with a 17" blade? I carry a 0.5gram fire striker for that, or I'd use a smaller blade. watch the other vids if you want to see how this is used. its not stainless. Stainless would be completely useless and shatter. its a mirror polished 5160. As a Draw knife I certainly dont want a sharp jagged edge on the knife spine.

  • @knivesandstuff so if you lose your striker? then you will have to dull a section of your blade to strike a spark and as a draw knife you could easily have a section near the base to strike a spark and not affect the draw knife capabilities of the blade

  • @HomeDistiller if i lost my striker id still have my 3" blade. if i lost that, then dulling 2mm on a 17" blade wont effect performance. apart from that. i dont really use strikers at all anyway.. lol.. if I lost my striker, ive lost my steel because they are tied together.. so its a moot point. i can always make a bow drill. I dont like sharp spines and they have never been something I want or require. each to their own though. This is hardly a one knife does it all.. there is no such thing.

  • Awesome knife mate, that mirror finish would last 3 seconds with me though.

  • @wolfie83 lol.. what would you do to the mirror finish. I've had this blade for a year and I use it every week for cutting practice and chop though bottles, trees, water etc.. its certainly got its share of scratches, bit its still got a mirror polish :) there is some mild patina in a few places.

  • @knivesandstuff i've used my knives digging, batoning wood, felling small trees...the works of bushcraft.

  • @wolfie83 Well, apart from digging I'd say fair enough, but none of those would ruin the polish.. you just have to clean and oil them. Why would you risk damaging your blade digging? takes about 2 minutes to carve a wooden shovel of similar size as a knife that will work as well or better without the risk of chipping your knife on stones. Not critical.. its a serious question. regards.

  • @knivesandstuff i just play around with techniques other wilderness and survival guys test out on bladeforums...and in my experience mirror finishes never last, the eventually scuff up etc (then I put them to a neat satin finish, seems to last longer). Even Jerry Busse's awesome INFI pieces suffer the bane of surface scratching and loss of the original finish...nature of the beast, I do have some though that I use conservatively to keep them in good finish.

  • @wolfie83 I Understand. The Mirror finish was not done for looks though. it is a simple fact of physics that the smoother the finish the less friction exists and the better a blade will cut, and deeper (all other things being equal) So while the finish may patina, or scratch etc.. its still going to have a finish that is smoother, and more resistant to corrosion and friction free. Getting a mirror finish is actually functional more than vain ;)

  • @knivesandstuff And yes.. in most uses the difference is probably minimal. but in cutting excercises it can be a very good thing.

  • @knivesandstuff oh i agree, hence why most tend to strop their edge for that mirror finished edge...and I will say again this is a very nice knife! they do great work from the others I have seen.

  • @wolfie83 Yeah. Justin at Ranger is just a plain awesome dude and his prices are excellent. Best service in the business. His blades can be a bit beefy like a bussy. but it depends what you ask for. you really cant go wrong with one of his blades.

  • how much that cost you and where is the guy located

  • The weight is 700 grams not $700

  • @tapeworm1111 Dude, I think you didnt read all the comments carefully before posting this one. The original weight was 700grams, and is now 650grams. What we were talking about was the SALE VALUE if I was to sell it.. I said its WORTH $700 Dollars. LoL.. just a coincidence in the 700 that may have confused you.

  • $700 ? Is it jewel encrusted ?

  • @mwillblade i paid over $3000 for my custom sword....stick to budk if you dont like to pay for quality, and dont want quality.

  • @wolfie83 Wow , your a idiot .

  • @mwillblade nice comeback...not.

  • @wolfie83 and I believe a 26 y/o has a sword he gave over $3000 for ....... not !

  • @mwillblade email John Lundemo at odinblades and ask him :) custom swords are not cheap...and what does age have to do with anything? the older you get the less you have to spend on frivolous objects.

  • @wolfie83 If Jesus was to come down from heaven and say you were stupid enough to pay over $3000 for a sword I would not believe him .

  • @mwillblade as I said, stick to the budk catalogue...it seems to have a lot that you consider a score buy, you pay for quality.

  • @wolfie83 Little boy ,I've been collecting and making knives for 28yrs. Don' t try and put me down .

  • @mwillblade yet you put down other makers? and seemingly have no idea of standard pricing associated with customs? poor form.

  • @wolfie83 Who did I put down ?

  • @mwillblade insulting the pricing of custom smiths is in general poor form, John Lundemo put his heart into making me my sword and charged a very fair price.

  • @mwillblade and I put up a vid of said sword in your "honor"...the little boy comment was funny though.

  • wow its awesome r you looking to sell it lol jk but really cool

  • hey can i buy your knife its awesome i gotta have it if not is it custamised just for you i want one

  • @drewsisely Hi, I'm glad you like this knife. its a beast. I designed it and had Ranger Knives USA make it. As to selling it.. its worth about $700USD.

  • beautiful knife man !!! :)

    congratz

  • I like the yellow handle. If you drop it you will be able to see it easily.

  • dude thats a nice blade all i have is something i took from some old guys house lawl

  • Thanks.. took from a house Lawl?

  • Just an update, I ordered a self-designed Waki-style sword from Justin. He is indeed a great guy. The sword is in the mail as we speak. For HT he had to send it out, because my design exceeded 23" but otherwise he did an incredible job. Once I receive I will do a review. Justin deserves a lot of credit and fame.

  • I want one, or something similar. How much did this cost you?

  • well, each is individually made.. so "similar" could effect cost in a big way.. depending on options like mirror finish.. think $350 - $500US and contact Ranger Knives, Justin is one of the best guys to deal with.

  • Thx man. I've been considering a Ruck from Busse, or the Waki from SRKW, but this is a serious option too. You get EXACTLY what you want. There's just that INFI thing... ;)

  • Yep.. Just depends how important Infi is to you. This blade is tough. 5160 is a good steel. I'm not into the 2 handed handles on such short blades.

  • 5160? hmmm, to retain that mirror finish, you need to keep the blade well oiled up :)

  • Mind you, it will be great for in close combat and looks like it won't catch up in the ribs.

    Well done.

  • It's like a shortened cossack sword.

  • Fantastic sword ! I need sunglasses just to look at it !

  • Looks awesome !

Wouldn't call it a knife though ,you yourself mentioned the length of the blade X_X ............

  • Yep.. 17" I call it a Bush Sword, and it is a knife.. Sword and Knife, its all about intent. a sword is simply a knife designed for war. this is a knife designed for bush clearance, which would work very well as a sword.. its a fun blade.

  • Nice blade. will this company make anybody a blade?

  • ranger knives make customs.. just email them. i have given permission to reuse my design. or he can do lots of other stuff

  • Thanks a lot guys! Seeing as this is my design.. Compliments rub my ego nicely LoL

  • nice!

  • That is sweet. . .

  • Thanks guys. I call this one a bush sword.. take a look at the svord Bush knife for a good 10" powerhouse :D

  • its not a knife its s sword :D NICE!

  • thats a nice knife man

  • that is beautiful! the polish is so amazing..

  • it is an amazing mirror polish, which helps it cut tremendously.. its a bit marred now :D

  • No, Likely It will be hardwood. I've just sent the blade to Svord NZ to get a few modifications done.. Costs too much to send it back to Justin. after I get it back in a week or 2, I will build a sheath.. Modern Saya.

  • Sweet man, gonna make a kydex back sheath eh? Go ninja?

  • Nice spins btw.

  • :D Thanks :)

  • Looking again, I think the proper term is flourishes, not spins, lol whatever.

  • now now.. don't confuse your self. Its a figure 8 Strike, Parry, counter strike :)

  • Oh dear, now you've lost me ;)

  • Oh look! its shiny :D

  • You cheeky bastard.

  • It's shiny! I'm confused, Isn't that maker in NZ? Why is there a US Postal logo on the packaging? I think this the first time I've seen your face, or your kid's...

  • His turn around time depends on how many projects he is working on I guess. I got in at a good time, and the turnaround was 2-3weeks.. it took 1 week just to get a particular colour liner.

  • is his turn around this fast or did you delay the design videos?

  • very nice, its a cool thing to see a vision come to life!

  • Yeah, I'm jealous...

  • you should be :)

  • HAHAHA!! Touche, my friend! Touche

Excellent design Kyley. Can't wait to see more.

  • next on the list is my custom svord edc for sale, later, the mini version of this fellow

  • Agreed!

  • Wow, beautiful!

  • I'm certainly impressed and overjoyed.. When I look at my design I sent Justin, his execution is perfect.

  • Steel is 5160

  • wow can u really take something like that into a park Kylie?

Nice knife btw, looks like an excellent quality piece. What type of steel is it?

  • you can take it to the park when you have a 3 year old girl, dont have tatooes and dont appear drugged to la la land.. the video camera also identifies a purpose that makes people not care in the slightest.. its actually quite legal to carry NON concealed items with good reason.. I would say doing a movie, or Martial arts training are good excuses

  • hehe good point there kylie. also being a little older would draw alot less attention, a teenager doing something like this would get into a world of trouple. as i said, very nice knife, looking over the video again as i type this and loving it more :)

  • More videos uploading now.. I love this blade.. I love the design.. I think my design is excellent and good working.. Although, I should have stuck with the initial design thickness of 3/16" and it would be a better blade. at 1/4" its still great.. but not as great as 3/16" for actual use. Its mostly going to be collection though.. so 1/4" looks damn fine. It makes an awesome shortsword
