  • Yes I Should !

  • You Should Make More Videos !

  • woiud you trust this guy with your hard drive lol no

  • @twhite1288 With a broken one, why not?

  • The invisible man. (clothes and skin tone 99% match the back wall).

  • if i open the hd and it doesn't spin like at 3:55 in your video what could be wrong?

  • Actually aluminum is the international spelling/pronunciation. Us american's aren't being stubborn for once- it's actually just the British this time :P

  • how can i take out the fucking motor ?

  • @waqasgroups Astroglide?

  • @waqasgroups take off the chip on the back there are more screws.

  • Nice hard drive forensic evidence.

  • nice chest hair

  • @xxSMITHxx456 Thank you!!

  • hahaha Salad crouton :p.

  • Fun thing to do with an unwanted hard drive that works:

Take the top off and run it open while accessing data from different parts of the drive.

It's pretty cool to watch the head seek back and forth, especially since it does it at a mind blowing rate.

  • Nice, I recently "took" apart a similar 80GB drive that started squeaking when the spindle would attempt to spin, and the drive would never actually spin up. I have another drive that's in it's last throes, when it finally dies I might make a similar video. I don't have all the proper tools, though, so I'll likely be breaking lots of stuff getting it apart (fun though, right?). I do have one of those magnets though, they're fuckin TOUGH.

  • computer guys like to bullshit too much ... my aunt ... my sister ... who gives a fuck?!! Do the presentation and keep your fucking shit to yourself god damn it!

  • "It's ticking" RUN!!!!!

  • Hi Adam, you hard trouble removing the top cover because there is a hidden screw (a screwing ring with 4 or 6 edges) under the label.

  • "and basically it's never useful again,"

Actually, those small laptop drives happen to be fine paperweights!

  • This guy is a fireball. I'm sure you have a job, time to move out of mom's basement.

  • This is what he does when he isn't sitting in a van across from the school yard.

  • Are all harddrive magnets the same strength? Like a 80 gig compared to a 500 gig?

  • What's that mysterious ticking noise?...IT'S A TIME BOMB!!! DUDE WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH A TIME BOMB??!!

  • lol its a ipod touch it makes that sound when you recieve a new email

  • what?

  • WOW! I have a 12" PowerBook G4!

It's on it's second screen and HD 2nd hand from my sister!

  • Hi, someone else probably asked it, but i am to lazy to look... what is that USB cable that you used to make the internal HD into an external?

  • salad!! lol hah

  • can u make a video of how to disassemble desktop hardisk....and AdamB do u know how 2 use freezing method for saving lost data on useless hardisk????? TQ in advance

  • Maybe I will - once I come up with a dead one. It's just like this one, but bigger.

And for the freezing thing, well, basically, put it in a zip-top bag, squeeze out all the air you can, and freeze it from 4 to 24 hours. Quickly re-install it in the computer (or an external case) and get what you can from it. asap

  • how to frezee the the hardisk? can use a normal plastic? is this to prevent from the direct contact with water??after freeze quickly re-install it with ice still on or wait it to melt? does it can be done several time? tq in advance

  • Well, I'd think a nice, thick bag would be best. Like a Zip-Lock Freezer bag. I use those for food and they seem very sturdy. And if you get the air out of the bag, there won't be any ice, since there won't be any water vapor in the bag.

If you Google "hard drive freezing trick", you'll see a few web sites with better instructions.

  • TQ AdamB ...u been so much HELP...looking up for more of your great video!!! tq again

  • I have a mooing walking toy cow, now he's not mooing anymore, i shook him a lot and he moo'd a little, then stopped could you find the vocal moo inside him & fix it? I'll pay for postage, we'll sell it on ebay and split the profit! what do you say??

  • i disassembled my hopping toy rabbit, and got the broken plastic leg out after unthreading the furry material now if I send you the rabbit would you fix it I'll sew it back if you can make it hop again!

  • wich torx? I used a T5 from mastercraft but T4 from another brand maybe somthing was badly idwentified but it work very well, it was for the pcb screws but on the platter's side I think it need a bigger one like a T6 T7 or T8

  • What is that device called???

  • That one screw, yeah I had to twist the metal too.

5:17 I just want to be seen! LOL

  • LOL A SALAD CRUTON rofl

  • ive had 2 hitachis die on me. go wd

  • its a clock !!!!!!!!!!!

  • I meant T6/7

  • It you're talking about the screws on the HDD itself then it should be a T7/8

  • Well, there's ten minutes of my life I'll never get back... ;)

  • Well, let's see what I give back to you here... Hmmm... Do you have change for an hour?

  • haha

    Well said Adam B....

    Great video.

    Tom

  • Salad cruton! :-D

  • "There are many parts in here, and some of them may need to be treated severly." HaHa

  • Nice Adam, I love the end.

  • lol.. salad cruton

  • Good job tearing the Al-U-min-E-um

  • well out certain parts

  • nice Adam, I recently got my hands on a whole bunch of old HDs and I made an art piece out of them

  • good video Adam B. Amazing how 2 metal pads can translate into what we see on screen.

  • These are great for mixing into chili if you want to break someone's tooth. Haha.

  • is "can" the technical term for the case for the drive? lol if you say it is then i believe ya adamB.

  • Well, that's what I've always called it; I don't quite remember where I picked up the term from, but it's certainly appropriate, don't you think?

  • i suppose so. it has an aluminum shell, and you were able to pop the top,so to speak,so "can" does seem an appropriate term. lol

  • cool, you should do a video with the ipod mini micro drive,, im going to try to upgrade my old mini

  • Yay new video!

  • Croutons are good. Especially those who are tasty.

This video is great, I like seeing the internals of the internals in a computer. Interesting!

    -j.

  • Hey AdamB do you know a good place to get a static mat

keep em coming :-)! have a good one

  • Good video Adam, though I'd probaly never take the time to do that.

  • Outstanding, Adam B! Notice there are no related videos.,

I've seen a Christmas Tree built out of hard drive platters before, it was really nice. Didn't even need lights!

  • Who recorded couse the camera moved

(do you have a dog which can hold a camera?)

  • It sounds like when you get radiated in Fallout 3 xD

  • Long time no see. Going to be doing some more videos? Been thinking of buy a Mac once this economy levels out.

  • Buy one and save the economy! :)

  • Ha ha, don't have a job right now. Been laid off since 11/11/08. Haven't even been able to pay a company to accept my application. Let alone get an interview. :(

  • Oh sorry to hear, man!

    Ever thought of being self-employed?

Anyway, good luck, I'm sure it'll happen for you!

  • I hope something happens. I work on computers enough to make a job out of it. :D Never get paid anything though because I always work on friends or families computers. Or friends on the family, etc. I'm an electrician, but there is no industry around here and noone in building anything. So I can't et into building maintenance or construction. :(

  • the magnets name is neodymium.

  • URADOSH

  • u look like the starship enterprise

  • the crouton did come out of the hd it would have been in the middle between the platters. they are to help with harmonic damping :)

  • Your camera autopans??? what type is it?

  • He was controlling it with a remote. Watch it again.

  • where do u get ur tools from?

how did u get the information from the hard drive?

    great vid

    kevinward

  • My aunt got an external backup hard drive a couple of days before the internal drive died. I had her copy her entire user folder to the backup drive. After I installed the new drive in the laptop, I managed to rebuild her set-up pretty well. She was up and working within a day.

  • oh alright

    thanks for replying

  • hah, i thought i was receiving an email on my ipod touch when i was watching this.

  • yes, i've heard the same noise too.

  • very cool

  • whats that connector called?

  • Which connector? It's an older-style ATA drive...

  • the one that enabled you to plug in the drive via USB.

  • proabably an ATA-to-USB adapter would be my guess.

  • where do you get one of those?

  • FIRST! Great Video Adam!
