I was raised in a mennonite community and Cornie is a bit of an exageration but he has the mennonite down pat. I have read all these comments and any true mennonite would find the humour in this. I attended a Mennonite college and of the tens of thousands of Amish and Mennonites that I have met in my life, I have never met one as weird as this young man. It would be a mistake to judge Mennonites based on your impression of this individual.
I'm Mennonite and this guy is nothing like the Mennonites I know. We're pretty much just like any other Christian denomination, like Lutheran or Presbyterian. We don't all have accents, most of us are FOR diversity, not segregation, some of us do speak French and no one has a problem with that, we do have a pastor, many of us believe in peacekeeping AND pacifism, and I don't get half the references this guy makes.
If you don't think Cornie is a normal mennonite then you are correct, he is a Winkler mennonite. I happen to know what I am talking about because I live in Winkler and most of our mennonites come from Germany, Russia and Mexico (mostely Germany) so the Winkler mennonite is somewhat different then a average mennonite.

I used to go to a mennonite school, i'm atheist, and this is definitely not a mennonite guy. most of the people at my school wouldn't hurt someone if you paid them, and btw, being mennonite isn't like being in a cult, not even close, its more like being in a family that helps all the surrounding people. they r really great people (most of the time)

We had a Mennonite twenty-something stay with us for two weeks recently. I must say I was intrigued by the many-faceted world of Mennonites. I wasn't aware that there were so many traditions within the community. I guess, to my shame, I thought it was Amish Lite! I REALLY respect their fight for civil rights in the east, and especially in S.A. There are as many Mennonite sects as there are Baptists, etc. That said, I'll not watch the video.
