I don't get it. I live in a much smaller town in Canada and we have Critical Mass as well. These people are doing it wrong. It is not about pissing people off in motor vehicles. It is about trying to get people to walk or ride bikes instead of taking a car. You do not block traffic but you become part of traffic and you obey the rules. lol. im 18 right now but when i was 16, i rode Critical Mass for 1.2 years and during those months, ive been into 3 fights (with drivers) for protecting other riders in the streets, argued with 11 parents that tried to hit other riders and nearly gotten jailed for trying to bike my friend who just recieved a stab wound in his arm from A DRIVER , taking him to the Chinatown Hospital.

I remember there was a line of bikers blocking an intersection while on my motorcycle, so I revved to 12k RPMs while rolling through. They were not this rowdy, but maybe it was cause it was early.
Good thing for me it's somewhere else. Doubt the DC cops would have any humor when it comes to these "protesters." DC protests are coordinated not to have this effect, and when protesters get out of line, they find themselves having to get out of jail.
As an avid cyclist who shares the road with others I can safely say that Critical Mass should eat shit and die.

@Valyn66 I know what you're saying and i've never been to a critical mass, never will but the point is that what goes around comes around. 80% of these people are angry at motorists because they get pushed around and treated like shit on their commute. If you don't believe me - try it in any major city and you will realize how bad most city drivers are. This is the spillage of that anger, and they probably see it (rightly or wrongly) as a chance to get back at city drivers.

@tantorecords Believe me, other drivers are upset enough about bad drivers. It's not "targeted" at cyclists in my experience (and yes, I have gone cycling in major cities in several countries). The roads are a high-tension necessary evil in most countries. Nobody likes having to slog through the B.S. of major roadways. Critical mass, though? They amplify that irritation 1,000 times with illegal activities and wonder why people finally snap and run them over.

@Valyn66 Woah, slow down. First you are saying that critical mass is an irritation which it is, but now you are justifying the murder of another human being for halting traffic... That is total madness. What the fuck man? Did you see videos of the cm in brazil where 16 people were put in hospital with life threatening injuries and 2 died later in hospital from subsequent medical complications? you think that is justified because cm riders are annoying? How could you.

@tantorecords Where did I "justify" anything? The incident in Brazil was horrifying and the man who did it deserves his sentence. I'm saying that Critical Mass invites violence by breaking the law for no other reason than to annoy motorists in service to their political agenda.
Even the Westboro baptists obey the law at their protests. Why not Critical Mass?

I have been riding Bikes for years, And very much enjoy it, As well I know many Bicyclist, I would not for 1 sec support these Critical Mass riders, We have this same foolishness in New York City the last friday of the month, I as most Bicyclist support responsible riding, Not stupidity. The difference I see between SF and the NY Critical Mass is here our Police escort the riders with Motorcycles/Scooters write tickets and make arrest. Keep up the great work TVman, I love your vids.

I remember there was a line of bikers blocking an intersection while on my motorcycle, so I revved to 12k RPMs while rolling through. They were not this rowdy, but maybe it was cause it was early.

Good thing for me it's somewhere else. Doubt the DC cops would have any humor when it comes to these "protesters." DC protests are coordinated not to have this effect, and when protesters get out of line, they find themselves having to get out of jail.
