@HolyAle1 No, it`s not the Moscow Patriarcate male choir. I tried to find any information about that choir in russian webpages and seems that there doesn`t exists such a choir. It`s interesting, because I have been on their concert in Tallinn some years ago and the name was exactly the same.

@METALandRAPsucks You should listen to progressive, symphonic, or power metal. They are different sub-genres of metal that have very operatic vocals. Try satariel-300 years old, Steel attack-Crawl, and Conception-Retrospect. As for rap, I can't really say. I don't listen to much and I try not to be bias towards things I don't really understand.
thats awesome indeed...still I can't understand that there is hardly anything else available ... no information about him, no further clips or cds...so, if you have anything about him, pls post it
@PaladinConstantin I know my share of devout Christian people who are taken aback by people's admiration of their unique talents -- occasionally it shows on their faces when they are expected to "do something." That is all I meant. As for the rest, not everyone who speaks English is a devotee of Hollywood or the BBC. You would find me more akin to Paul Robeson; that said, with my people's Spirituals and gospel known and loved worldwide, I respectfully decline to culturally "convert."
it makes me proud to be a bass...but though I have my range of low notes creating such resonance and depth with clarity is key in the profundo, yet the maturing of the bass sure has its perks...
1:30 He is like wiggle wiggle (body), sigh, wiggle, shuffle ready guys, you asked for it and he it bloody well is, sighs and twitches about once more then takes a long deep breath and bbbbbbbbbbuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrpppppppppppp (or what ever the hell kinda of farting grunting rumble the old small dude was making). But holy cow that was just mind blowingly awsome!
Bahahahahahah... great comment.. I wanna share that on FB.... tears in my eyes.... "bbbbbbbbbbuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrr rrrrrrrrpppppppppppp"..... Bahahahahah
@the channel owner: thank you for posting this magnificent video.
I disagree with some of the commentators who have posted vulgar comments, using inappropriate language, and/or exhibiting some kind of a "showbiz" mentality: they emphasize sensationalism like tabloids. They miss the lofty spirituality of such singing. BTW, the basso profondo is a very serious, classy gentleman, IMO.
@LifeforArt Maybe it's not so difficult to reach a low C, but it's very difficult to sing it with the power and the resonance of these bassi profundi.
These are in fact not 'basses' but are called 'octavists', and the technique in producing that extraordinary sound is quite different from producing the higher voices of bass, tenor, contralto/alto and soprano.
Don't give me a thumbs down for this without explaination BUT, does anyone think the volume is slowly boosted at the end of the video? The background noise slowly rises as well as the noise speakers make when turned loud when nothing is playing; that background hissing and it cuts out before the note disintegrates... I utterly love the sound either way but I just noticed it particularly whilst listening to this a little loud...
I am quite aware of that, I've done a fair bit of recording myself. BUT, when you hear the little footstep noises or whatever they are e.g at 1:25, 1:33, notice how much *louder* they get after the end note, not the fact they're there but that they get much louder.
I utterly love this music and am rather obsessed with it, this isn't critique of the singer because if I'm right, I don't imagine it would have been his choice but that's just what I hear and thus I made an observation.
I do think there's some sound manipulation involved regarding the volume of the bass profondo. You can't blame them though; at that point in the scale, you're bound to lose loads of volume. For most men, it's an issue just trying to muster the power and range to hit that note in the first place. I'm lucky enough to be able to, and I can tell you it is a BITCH to project.
Well said and snap - I'm nought special and probably am Baritone/Tenor material but this is about as low as I go but without a mic I would sound pathetic and it still does really but that's another story...
Even if it is boosted, I think it's cool with me but I think they should declare it. That is THE note that got me into Basso Profondo right there really after all so it's no bad thing.
@dbikeguy yeap, I 6'5" - but I tell you, the toughest, meanest, and most scary guys are usually the short skinny types.. Look at the competitive eating circuit - its always the 'little guy' that gets em.. The same in most things. Think your gonna kick that scrawny 5'4" guys ass and show the boys how you can go?? Out comes the pistol, and POP goes the cap in your ass..
There are many choirs like this in Russia. Each larger "church region" might have one. Eg. I know of the Moscow one. This video might have a temporary collective.

I couldn't find a single photo (let alone video) of him on the internet, so I don't really know what he looks like... His name is legendary, though. He is, I beleive, a Guinness Book record holder -- for lowest voice -- who also posesses a 3-octave vocal range, which is even more amazing for a basso profundo.

Wow. There's no bass like an old bass . . . and that face, that little lopsided smile, like "Yes, I know everyone is waiting for it, and the camera is rolling . . . I don't think it's a big deal, but, here it is." Indeed.
