  • Wow...not just the guy with the lowest voice, but that whole entire choir is just out of this world...

  • Is this the choir Moscow Patriarcate male choir ?

  • @HolyAle1 No, it`s not the Moscow Patriarcate male choir. I tried to find any information about that choir in russian webpages and seems that there doesn`t exists such a choir. It`s interesting, because I have been on their concert in Tallinn some years ago and the name was exactly the same.

  • Try grammar slavic dog.

  • @Shivajisena26uk : Yoe seen be mentally challenged also try learning English,

  • i watcht this 100 times and i love the voicxe and timbre of the complete choir but the amazing power of the basso profondo!

  • this reminded me of Shambala by Beastie Boys with all the respect

  • A subject of thinking , for music lovers : " could you fancy what would occidental music have become , without any African influency " . If Jazz was never born ... Just imagin , since J S Bach , French King Louis XIV Mozart , Ravel..then ,..no other alien influence ... what shouls it be now ??? Don't forget that , in those time profane music did not exist ? Believers or not , any music belong to religious .

  • @sutchsteve I am sorry , may be you have mistaken the meaning of my words . I love Russian songs ,and very deeply.

But it was just a question , concerning the job done by music , which help peoples meetings through greedy money scrapers . And I was thinking to Africa 's music , mixing with northern feelings .. Never racist , I am fighting against any shape of it since 40 years . Sorry if I have been confusing you

  • @BOOOZB Sorry for my previous comment, I can see now that I misunderstood completely what you were saying

  • they should all grow long beards!

  • Bass choir with basso profondo. Lmao this sounds so epic.

  • He is so small, and so old! I believe that i will not sleep tonight thinking about that!!!! Jajajajaja

  • Go ahead grandpa!! :)

  • Дядечка в очках, которого показывают в этом ролике кажется на самом деле известный октавист Златопольский.

  • Caraca. Adoro esse vídeo. Ninguém dá nada por esse velho monge, qeue inclusive, parece até que esqueceu a letra e a melodia. Muito show!

  • God is a short little guy

  • @METALandRAPsucks You should listen to progressive, symphonic, or power metal. They are different sub-genres of metal that have very operatic vocals. Try satariel-300 years old, Steel attack-Crawl, and Conception-Retrospect. As for rap, I can't really say. I don't listen to much and I try not to be bias towards things I don't really understand.

  • the ending takes my breath..

  • This is more awesome than words can describe!

  • thats awesome indeed...still I can't understand that there is hardly anything else available ... no information about him, no further clips or cds...so, if you have anything about him, pls post it

  • Does any body know ih there are CDs available with this gorgeous singer? My admiration for this man is as deep as his voice. Fantastic bass!

  • and that ,dear friends is the cause of the Haiti earthquake

  • wow..those voices..that black robe..kinda seems like what u will find inside a sith temple

  • I am wondering what is the ton of this guy's voice while he normaly talk???

  • @DzankiPedu Sure ain't Mickey Mouse!

  • @PaladinConstantin I know my share of devout Christian people who are taken aback by people's admiration of their unique talents -- occasionally it shows on their faces when they are expected to "do something." That is all I meant. As for the rest, not everyone who speaks English is a devotee of Hollywood or the BBC. You would find me more akin to Paul Robeson; that said, with my people's Spirituals and gospel known and loved worldwide, I respectfully decline to culturally "convert."

  • This makes my voice seem higher than Rebecca Black's lol.

  • Here is basso-profundo Michail Zlotopolsky.

  • Here is bass-profondo Michail Zlotopolsky.

  • how does he do that, i sing bass, i wish i could sing that low....VODKA VODKA VODKA!!!! lol

  • I think the old guy with the low voice has like 20 kids....

  • if you hear closely at start you can hear him sing.

  • anybody know the name of the russian male choir just made up of bass voices

  • DAMN that old guy :D

  • so sick.. this is like whack

  • it makes me proud to be a bass...but though I have my range of low notes creating such resonance and depth with clarity is key in the profundo, yet the maturing of the bass sure has its perks...

  • its makes me proud to be a 26yr old bass...i cant wait till my voice is done maturing...

  • The resonance is phenomenal.

  • 1:30 He is like wiggle wiggle (body), sigh, wiggle, shuffle ready guys, you asked for it and he it bloody well is, sighs and twitches about once more then takes a long deep breath and bbbbbbbbbbuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrpppppppppppp (or what ever the hell kinda of farting grunting rumble the old small dude was making). But holy cow that was just mind blowingly awsome!

  • @thegreatbasher

Bahahahahahah... great comment.. I wanna share that on FB.... tears in my eyes.... "bbbbbbbbbbuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrr rrrrrrrrpppppppppppp"..... Bahahahahah

  • @mikeherriott Glad you like it.

  • @thegreatbasher - One of these days you ought to improve your language. I am not amused by your smarmy remarks.

  • i dont get it :/ it sounds like i can hit those notes, but my voice just sounds like a motorcycle engine sometimes lol

  • Wonderful projection and tone quality all delivered within the natural limits of his vocal range. His facial expression makes it look easy.

  • he has a really mighty voixe what it is all about a basso profundo.

  • this is cool! and soo much cool i like it so much

  • pavelkostov are you jealous ? Basso Profundo range is totally awesome, hardly anyone can sing THAT low!

  • @MichaelGaribaldi haha no nasty as in a compliment. I love the profondo voice. sorry for the misunderstanding.

  • I think it's the Male Choir of Saint Petersburg, but I don't promise.

  • I wish I knew him. Do you notice how he seems to expect the note to resound?

  • dang, i didnt expect it to be the old man with the lowest voice! xD

  • thats just nasty.

  • Very beautiful!

  • anyone knows what is the composition?

  • i think the lead tenor needs to quiet down a little, and let the basso come through more.

  • How, and I repeat: How is it possible that there are 3 people who disliked this? This music, this voice, everyone admires this...

  • @seltsamerGraf73 Mikhail Zlatopolsky.

By the way, he was able to reach even a double-low Eb without a microphone. Great bass!

  • @taviskaron15 OMG!!!

  • what a gorgeous, mighty voice. Does anybody know the name of this man?

  • what a gorgeous, mighty voice. Does anybody know the name of this man?

  • @the channel owner: thank you for posting this magnificent video.

I disagree with some of the commentators who have posted vulgar comments, using inappropriate language, and/or exhibiting some kind of a "showbiz" mentality: they emphasize sensationalism like tabloids. They miss the lofty spirituality of such singing. BTW, the basso profondo is a very serious, classy gentleman, IMO.

  • fucking crazy

  • Good god; that is the strongest low C I've ever heard.

  • I love the sound he makes at the end. He changes the shape of his mouth. Amazing. The kind of music you would hear in heaven.

  • It's really so, beautiful, God bless you for uploading this :).

  • 1:33 He's like no, yea yea. I got this.

  • @etwade (the uploader)

It's the Orthodox Singers Male Choir

  • Так вот значит, какой он был, Златопольский...действительно, очень мощный голос.

  • A low C is not so hard to reach - When i'm in good condition i reach a D !

Look for Rachmanninov Vespers - i one part bass-voices have to sing a 'f ! A this in ppp.

  • @LifeforArt Maybe it's not so difficult to reach a low C, but it's very difficult to sing it with the power and the resonance of these bassi profundi.

  • @thomy753

In my opinion, singing it with the same power/resonance isn't the hardest part. The hardest part is sustaining it.

  • This profondo is Michael Zlatopolsky.

  • @A0is thanks!

  • These are in fact not 'basses' but are called 'octavists', and the technique in producing that extraordinary sound is quite different from producing the higher voices of bass, tenor, contralto/alto and soprano.

  • want to go to orthodox church sometime...

  • yo soy bajo pero no llego a tanto kiero ser igual X(

  • Sunn O))) Russian vocal mix? Just jesting, great singing anyway.

  • I'll be the third one to ask it, but what is the name of this piece?

  • Beautiful!

  • you know i have only heard of stuff like this on cd's but seeing it and how effortless its being sang is actually quite amazing

  • the name of this oktavist is Yuri Wichniakov

  • @yiliev I don't know much about the Russian Basso singers, but if this is Wichniakov, he's a legend.

  • @bigboytenor His name is Mikhail Zlatopolsky!

  • @yiliev So far I know, Yuri Wichniakov is about 1,90 - 1,95 m. tall and he weights over 90 kgs. But anyway, his voice is phenomenous.

  • @1donpizarro all the choir directors he's worked with have compared the timber of his voice to that of a organ

  • that last chord is absolutly amazing. with such a stout low C supporting it, it just locks and rings. beautiful

  • @marnovski i know what "basso profondo" means, i want to know the name of this oktavist :)

  • basso profondo means really low bass (to the contra octave). REALLY LOW

  • sorry for my being noobish but who is this profondo? What is his name?

  • profondo means "deep"

    deep = low

    isn't it?

  • song name?

  • Don't give me a thumbs down for this without explaination BUT, does anyone think the volume is slowly boosted at the end of the video? The background noise slowly rises as well as the noise speakers make when turned loud when nothing is playing; that background hissing and it cuts out before the note disintegrates... I utterly love the sound either way but I just noticed it particularly whilst listening to this a little loud...

  • No, good recording equipment picks everything up. This is a professional recording, they aren't jacking up the volume.

  • I am quite aware of that, I've done a fair bit of recording myself. BUT, when you hear the little footstep noises or whatever they are e.g at 1:25, 1:33, notice how much *louder* they get after the end note, not the fact they're there but that they get much louder.

I utterly love this music and am rather obsessed with it, this isn't critique of the singer because if I'm right, I don't imagine it would have been his choice but that's just what I hear and thus I made an observation.

  • I do think there's some sound manipulation involved regarding the volume of the bass profondo. You can't blame them though; at that point in the scale, you're bound to lose loads of volume. For most men, it's an issue just trying to muster the power and range to hit that note in the first place. I'm lucky enough to be able to, and I can tell you it is a BITCH to project.

  • Well said and snap - I'm nought special and probably am Baritone/Tenor material but this is about as low as I go but without a mic I would sound pathetic and it still does really but that's another story...

Even if it is boosted, I think it's cool with me but I think they should declare it. That is THE note that got me into Basso Profondo right there really after all so it's no bad thing.

  • @philosoful I agree

  • That voice really fills that room

  • @DonSchanteloni really tied the room together man..

  • i love how the lowest voice is comin from the like the shortest, oldest guy there! haha

  • @dbikeguy How come?

  • @cryozo most of the basso profondo are like mid 6 feets when it comes to height. although age does in fact mature the bass voice.

  • @dbikeguy,

Yeah, most of the basso seems to be very tall, although not everyone are obviously..

  • @cryozo Yuru Vishnyakov is a tall man, but Zlatopolsky doesn't seem at all. And what a voice, though!

  • @1donpizarro Yeah, like vladimir miller and so forth

  • @dbikeguy yeap, I 6'5" - but I tell you, the toughest, meanest, and most scary guys are usually the short skinny types.. Look at the competitive eating circuit - its always the 'little guy' that gets em.. The same in most things. Think your gonna kick that scrawny 5'4" guys ass and show the boys how you can go?? Out comes the pistol, and POP goes the cap in your ass..

  • @dbikeguy i know i is cracking up from that! lol

  • wow.. that note isnt even that low for a professional bass.. but to sing it and project is so fully and clearly is simply unheard of.. how..

  • There are many choirs like this in Russia. Each larger "church region" might have one. Eg. I know of the Moscow one. This video might have a temporary collective.

    Puder

  • To można tylko przeżyć w cerkwi , nigdy w kościele, niebo na chwilę się otworzyło i spłyneła łaska na słuchającego.

  • If that is Zlatopolsky, why is he not mentioned on the album cover? (I can't find any mention of him on the net--perhaps someone who knows how should google in Cyrillic.) I don't recognize it as anyone else either, though.

  • What is this piece called? Apart from the amazing voices I find it chillingly beautiful

  • That low C2 at 1:35 with its unheared of clearity in western music and power made my day. Thanks for posting!

  • I bet those 90 seconds before the final chord were all warm-up for him. *1:33 clears throat and goes! Lmao.

  • That's a rather entertaining note to sing.

  • LOL!

  • What choir is this? What song? Where can I get more just like specifically this?

    Thank you.

  • the strong baritone who shines through is incredible!, amazing basses!

  • DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMNN!!!!

  • If the old profundo is indeed Michail Zlatopolsky, this is one of the RAREST opportunities to actually see him singing. I couldn't find a single photo (let alone video) of him on the internet, so I don't really know what he looks like... His name is legendary, though. He is, I beleive, a Guinness Book record holder -- for lowest voice -- who also posesses a 3-octave vocal range, which is even more amazing for a basso profundo.

Thanks very much for uploading this clip!

  • I'm pretty sure that one would have killed me if i were there.

    just... holy fuck...

  • George Younce said it better than anyone. " I love old people " This guy can sing the low notes as good as anyone I have heard . . . .

  • amazing!

  • lol thats so cool :)

  • What is the basses name? Who is the chorus? Any more recordings of them?

  • Michail Zlatopoljskiej

  • are you sure? who is this man? might he been the lowest? how do you recognise him? know anything about him? please share with us if you have knowledge. Thank you

  • dam, that was a nasty low c

  • What prayer is this and who is the composer?

  • Wow. There's no bass like an old bass . . . and that face, that little lopsided smile, like "Yes, I know everyone is waiting for it, and the camera is rolling . . . I don't think it's a big deal, but, here it is." Indeed.

  • I think something different about it :)

He's all nervous and just waiting for the exact time to enter. Almost wanted to start to early at some point :)

  • @hymnodyhands

I know exactly what you're talking about. In my own head, I sound exactly as I did in 6th grade, or for all of my life, for that matter. But when I hear a recording I know why my friends call my voice a hybrid between Barry White and the San Andreas Fault.

  • @BlasphemousPothead Sounds like you have a gorgeous voice -- at least to those of us who are into the basso profundo sound!

  • this allmost made me cry... it's outstanding, bet the windows vibrated when the old man hit that low C at the end, I like his reaction before, he says: I'll do it !!!

  • For me the best part starts from 1:10

  • great video man, thanks!

  • It seems to me that there is only one Basso Profondo out of the whole choir; which is amazing since he has so much power to ground 7 other singers!
