I'd put money on facebook capitalising on this idea by creating their own "Flattr" button and a monetary account system on facebook itself. Stunning idea though.

This is the way music art and any work will get any attention to the actual person and a real way we can attest their own worth. People who are on the internet are a class of stupid people, smart people, and in betweens. Its not just about whos rich and whos poor as is the way we do things now. A record company decides if ur worth it , if your good. With this system if your good your profile will say ur awesome by the ammount people give back to you.

Soon, the difference between Liking someone/something and Flattring them, is putting your money where your mouth/click is. (And I wonder if Jeremy Rifkin's "The Third Sector" will play into this, too.)
