  • This is harmonic overkill^^ Great!!

  • Who know his Cymbals set up ?

  • @Lookkhunfp

Far right is defo a Bosphorus Trad flat ride.

I think There's a set-up list in the Modern Drummer issue mark was in.

    Hope this helps.

  • I think I would sell my soul to this band if only Jimmy Green played a tenor.

  • Eso se llama Grooviar con una melodica

  • best caravan of all times!

  • I'm speechless on that one. I've never heard an arrangement of this song done like this. I just heard this for the 1st on Temple University's Jazz Station- WRTI 90.1 FM and after the song went off they said the name of the artist and I came straight to Youtube to see if I could find it. This was well worth it. Amazing bass player, very unique take on such a classic and mostly covered song. As a bass player and drummer myself, I must say being unique is hard in this business. Avishai has it.

  • WHAT A FUCKING GREAT VERSION!!!

  • does someone know if the repeating section at 1:17 - 1:21 is actually taken from the James Bond theme ? that's how it sounds to me, but I'm not sure if it's true, or if it's an intentional thing.

  • @klgamit Yes, they're using the same musical device as the beginning of the Bond theme. It's not necessarily from Bond, though the Bond theme is a famous example of it.

In technical terms, he's playing a triadic voicing of a minor chord, then moving the fifth of the chord up in half steps, then back down again. F minor, as it is heard at 1:17, starts as F Ab C, becomes F Ab C#, then becomes F Ab C again. One might chose to include the chord F Ab D before coming back down, too.

  • Take notice of Jimmy Greene in my opinion one of the most creative & inventive of the many saxmen on the scene. Also a killer composer.

  • there is a great article on Avishai in the July issue of Bass Player Magazine. He is actually on the cover.

  • That WAS the S@?* im getting a melodica!

  • what a groove!!!!

  • Echoes of Weather Report and Jaco. Fabulous!

  • the intro confirms Avishai started playing bass admiring Jaco
