Dude, you don't need to apply full curve to a shot to make it a successful one. It certainly helps confusing the goalie, but if a shot has little curve and is hit like this one, no goalie in the world will catch it! You say that this wasn't a well-kicked free kick? In contrary to beckham, beckham strikes more inside foot (more curve which Ronaldinho also can), here Ronaldinho can get more power, look at his free kick against Bilbao, a lot of power and still curving.
