One thing I never understood was Louise having a maid. I mean, Louise didn't work and the apartment only had 2 bedrooms. Why a maid when you only have a small 2 bedroom apartment to clean and you don't work? I guess Marla Gibbs was added for more comedy.

Some people said at times Louise got on their nerves by always reminding George and Lionel where they came from. Just take it down a notch and enjoy the new life he worked hard to give to them. If that's so, I don't think they meant for her to get on anyone's nerves. Because sometimes people do need to be reminded that no matter where they are going, where they arrived, not to forget where they came from. There's nothing wrong being proud of your accomplishments, but don't be an ass about it.

I like Louise beter in the early episodes before she started wearing wigs when she was wearing those hairbuns. Louise was more down to earth and stood up to George more.

@mstewart61 I like them too. The early episodes with Mother Jefferson.. This was before the show had celebrity guests, outrageous story lines, different locations (the Hawaii episodes) etc. Louise had a lot of different hairstyles after the first season.

@JBinOtown yeah I love the early Jeffersons episodes where she's the same ol' Louise from All In The Family. She got mellower soonafter, and eventually so did George.
