yeah i totally agree with the ending..i guess they wanted a happy ending. but i heard they kill roger in the second one and also, if you search deleted scenes for the golden compass and click on the gaming one, it has some stuff they deleted. like the bit where asriel is angry that they brought lyra not some other kid and then sees roger and is okay.

The Subtle Knife was a much faster paced book, but it wasn't really short. It's 341 pages, compared to The Golden Compass's 399 pages.

The first book was more of an introduction to all of the story elements and most of the main characters, whereas Subtle Knife took those elements and gave them a direction and made it clear where the story was headed. I guess that might make it seem a lot shorter than it is.

Golden Compass was one of the best fantasy books in a while, even though the Church was getting upset OVER NOTHING! No one kills God! A evil angel posing as God dies naturally of old age, and that's not until the third book. I enjoyed movie but ending was a slap in the face, who knows when or if they will finish the trilogy. To me, the book will always out pass the film adaptation.

I haven't read the books though I have friends who did and they were mighty pissed off, especially about the ending.

It was alright, I enjoyed the bear. :p The movie's pacing was insanely fast. I didn't start giving a shit until at least an hour in when they slowed down a little. Like shit, it's like someone keeps pushing you through an art gallery. Just bam, bam, bam like old transformers tv show. Damn, can we stop for a second so I can take a look around?

Also, I really looked how their soul-counterparts are called demons and how the magistrate (the church) wanted to cut the demons from the people so they can be all perfect and without evil. That was pretty good. I do enjoy being evil at times and overly nice people really piss me off. Um...that's kinda leaning off the point so I'll just stop now.

I use to think you made your videos in a really crappy room. But now I know it was the camera's fault. Sony Vegas is good video editing software but it's also expensive. What format are the videos in, I'll see if I can find something free that can convert it to a format that you can edit.

The reason why they didn't have the movie end like the first book, is because that ending (which you mentioned) would be too dark, tragic and shocking to show to a first-time audience. But if you look at the preview trailers, you'll actually see that scene, which shows that they have indeed filmed it. They're just going to shift it into the second movie, shock people early on.

I'm hoping they'll release a "Director's Cut" version afterwards, once the first movie is a success. And that could hopefully include a bunch of extra scenes, including even controversial stuff that was removed to appease the religious nuts. That's what I would do, if I was in charge.

I live in the South, and haven't seen snow in a few years. Nobody in my city owns a snow shovel, so that sound was weird. Movie sounds interesting, but haven't read any of the books.
