  • I'm a fan of Roddy's, but I don't believe this is live.

  • Well I agree with your points, but not why this song actually encapsulates this.

This liberal self hatred only exists because the lower classes don't vote, which allows liberals to dictate the terms. The docile idiots are beginning to wake up, and maybe their voice will be heard.

  • clap. clap. Textbook politics. Do u really think that model exists in the 21st century?

  • It could be the album version you're listening to. Roddy Frame has such a good voice, and hus songs are lyrically strange and beautiful. He's a National Poet - and treasure,

  • woop my dad knew craig cash befor he did some of the stuff and he new him when he wrote the royle family woop woop

  • Beautiful... so many good memories.

  • brilliant ..

  • Love the chorus which I first heard on one of a little masterpiece of comedy - Early Doors. Reminiscent of a singer in the Liverpool Scene who sang ' Saturday got a ribble bus' some forty ago now.

    Grandad

  • to the regiment...

  • I wish I was there!

  • i wish i was there , shit on the villa kro !!!

  • I WISH I WAS THERE!

  • I wish I was there

  • Good bit of dubbin' tho'...Great song etc...

  • Top top tune. But this isn't live. It's the recorded version. Obvious.

  • awesome, a great northern song like Oasis' "Half A World Away" or the Smiths "Please, Please, Please, Let me get...".

    Rock on.

  • His best, definately!

  • it doesnt get much better than this

  • Love this song, cant stop listening to it

  • fantastic.....

  • I gotta apologise for my suggestion that this might be overdubbed..slight chord slide as 1:05 proves it. it just sounded too damn good for live performance...boy he's one classy performer...respect

  • beautiful

  • Great song...but is this studio dubbed?

  • Fucking love this song

  • Early Doors! yaay! :D

  • mmmmmm beligum

  • Legend

  • One of my favourite ever tunes.

  • Roddy can do no wrong in my eyes, loved this song, loved this album , one of his best songs if you like just a superb voice and one of the best songwiters ever.

  • I never get tired of Roddy! This song is one of my favorites.

  • I absolutely adore the chorus, but find the verses rather flat (sorry).

    But it's so beautiful! I listen to it just for the chorus bits. ^^;

  • Actually, I've changed a bit. I like the verses more now. I was going through a different music phase on the last comment, I think. Still a brilliant piece of work!

  • Roddy Frame plays Cadogan Hall, London on Tuesday 28 November, 2008.

  • He sure is. It's a wonderful venue and it'll be a fantastic show!

  • Early doors little seen classic, was it "pickles" always thought roddy was not respected enough for his work in the uk i believe he is big in japan though

  • You are right there. Though he is revered in the UK by those that"know".

  • THE greatest theme tune to any show ever!

  • Absolutely the best acoustic guitarist and his lyrics are so personal! I love this song, it melts me.

  • Never heard of roddy untill i heard this song on early doors then i got really into him and his aztec camera days too! one of the best songwritters of all time! probably just after dylan!

  • This is an excellent song

  • Thanks for posting, this is my favorite from Surf.

  • i wish i was there

  • Small world, what a nice song. And I was there, at the Borderline in August 2002 where this performance belongs. What a bloody hot inside the Borderline! but Roddy was fantastic! I've got the guitar pick he used and the CD signed by him.

    Your friend from Spain, Miguel

  • Roddy's versionof 'In My Life' is my favourtie song ever. Shame that isn't on yotutube. This is still excellent though.

  • Yes, I agree, as a long time fan of Roddy's however slightly disappointed that he had to lip synch on this recording!

  • the greatest theme tune ever, to one of the best sitcoms ever...early doors.

    what a tune!

  • Amazing! This album is amazing, what a singer/songwriter!!

  • This is one of my faves from Roddy's Live cd. Thank you for posting this amazing songwriter/guitarist.

    Peace :-)

  • Genius!

  • To the regiment!

  • I wish I was there!

  • crime doesn't crack itself!

  • Roddy Frame is excellent! Love him.

  • Yep Surf is a classic and this man is a legend, "Small World" what a tune...

  • Beautiful... not many "true" artists left in music... do yourself a favor and go out and buy the "Surf" album by Roddy Frame, and really learn about what real music is all about!

  • Proves music can be viewed and listened to as an art form..perfect lyrics and melody...

  • An even more thoughtful songwriter today than he was during his more commercially successful times. Puts today's pretenders to shame.
