scales scales scales. use a tuner that drones a pitch to train your ear. keep a "tall and skinny" embouchure. all the air you used for flute will do well to give you a nice big sound on bassoon. Good luck!

Yeah, no bass clef instrument transposes, so the only difference would be your fingering and mouth. But, Bassoon sometimes have complex fingerings, so i would suggest taking private lessons.

you should learn to play whatever you feel called to play. Im a bassoon player and i find that the sound oboe does not come from the instrument but from the player.

My bassoon (Fox Renard (sp?) 240 which is a wooden student bassoon of good quality) cost $7,000, but it was also new. I'm sure you could find one cheaper though, but keep in mind that good reeds are expensive too... unfortunately. -_-

Harry Potter sheet music is pretty easy to find at most music stores. If they have sheet music, they'll probably have this. If there's a Long and McQuade near where you live, that'd be a good place. They usually have a lot of sheet music.
