KSAT always had the best news openings in the '90s... "THE NIGHT BEAT BEGINS... RIGHT NOW" Haha. Bob Salter, Siobahn Anders, Karen Gallagher and Greg Simmons were all awesome. Steve Browne is kind of a dick.
Oh wow, do you by chance have the entire footage of that Lotto Texas drawing? That music they used, I feel was only around for a few months. For all these years I would randomly hum the entire song in my head. My memory was spot on but I would love to hear the whole thing!
This is pretty funny. KSAT was my first tv job out of college. Marilyn Moritz is the most awesome person to work with and extremely smart. I worked with Bob Salter, Karen Gallagher, Greg Simmons and all of those folks from the early 90s. I loved everything about San Antonio. Wish I lived there now. :(
Aw, I wish I could've seen more of KSAT. In fact, I wish I could see more KSAT videos period. I would love to see old KSAT anchoring footage with Debora Daniels, and perhaps even some KSAT stuff from the late '70s if you have it. And some more KMOL stuff too, please. It was nice to see Daniels in that little segment. She is so much classier than that silly blonde twit they've got now (not Tanji Patton!), who is a lobotomized Corky Sherwood-Forrest.
Here is what I think about each of the opens. KENS:I miss that theme despite being used for 11 years, by '93 they were FINALLY starting to make good use of it. KSAT:Advanced for the time, NOT SCARY! Marilyn Moritz is now the consumer reporter. KMOL:I like it, and I didn't know debora daniels did weekend anchoring.

KMOL 4 (now WOAI) was also the only station that had dual anchors on the weekends, which KSAT & KENS didn't have at the time. Why was that?

Though fuzzy, & in bad shape, that KENS-TV itro really is so cheesy. I also like the closed-captioning logo popping up during the open.

For me the main attraction is the bit from the Lotto Texas drawing.
