@FrankFrankFrankB @FrankFrankFrankB yeah i've been to his house for dinner parties in baltimore w/ my parents its gigantic, they have the biggest pool
@jacobcs I totally want to go to the Peabody Institute where he teaches master classes. It would absolutely the coolest thing ever. Unfortunately, I'm a senior in high school and I've only just started studying classical. Damn my desire to play acoustic as a foolish young boy.
@scthp15 My current teacher graduated the peabody as the top solo performer in his class a few years back, he never studied under Barrueco but even being in the same institution with him would be an honor. Thats deffinently my goal after my undergrad studies is to head up to new york for grad school. keep playing! if you have a passion for guitar than it will show in you're studies.
the scene of him practicing in the car is the best! i've done that countless times in the past.
once i was pulled over for driving and practicing guitar at the same time. it was a half size guitar i boucht just for that ... the cop was just standing there staring at me saying "you cant be serious!" I got out of a ticket by playing a couple of songs. ha ha
Thank you so much, would you by any chance have his unearthly beautiful rendition of The Long and Winding Road by the Beatles? I have been trying to find it everywhere. It was done with the London Symphony Orchestra. Again, thank you.
I also like your recording quality, it looks and sounds very professional. I would like to improve the quality of youtube videos as we will all enjoy them so much more. You have won a new subscriber.
@Rizzo12388 As opposed to effort, will, discipline? :P Damn, I guess I should've been waiting for someone to bless me with magical powers this whole time.
veramente eccellente...nonostante questo brano non sia di chissà che grande difficoltà, barrueco riesce a conferigli una certa eleganza. In confronto, le versioni di asturias di williams e segovia fan veramente cagare.
He is a genius, and as a classical guitarist myself, I am a big fan of his, the song he is playing is also NOT A Gift and a Life, I don't know where that came from, it is Asturias.
And he studied with another Cuban friend of mine who passed away a few years ago and probably the best classical guitarrist I have ever seen Mr Juan Mercadal. We were both born in the same town of Guanabacoa, Cuba. Kind Regards
I met him personally a few years ago when my daughter was 6 or 7 years old. She is now 14. He was here in San Francisco, and after his performance, he was gracious enough to sign his autograph on his CDs for my daughter. I am very proud that he is cuban like me, and that he is doing so well here in the USA. I have seen Leo Brouwer play, and Mr. Barrueco is as good as Mr. Bouwer, and they are both cubans.
Grande
I think what impresses me the most is that he's so consistent in tempo over the years- to the extent that they can use two different performances of him playing this piece for video with only one soundtrack.
It really takes a lot of energy to pull this piece off. I know from personal experience. If you don't give it 110 percent you're not going to sell it to the audience. Manuel's performance here is one of the best I've seen. Great energy and focus. One of the best players out there.

Classical guitarists are amazing! Hands down. Such precision and accuracy is purely a gift of god!
Rizzo12388 3 years ago 6
@Rizzo12388 speaking from experience...it isn't a gift from God...it's the result of years and years of long days of practicing
I'm not even very good, but I can extrapolate this much from my limited guitar education.
