  • Albeniz - Asturias

  • I am Franklyn Barrueco and that's my dad's cousin. I have been to his house in Florida its huge and I learned guitar from him.

  • @FrankFrankFrankB good for you, tell him i like his playing lol

  • @crazybapful Ok ill call him haha.

  • @FrankFrankFrankB @FrankFrankFrankB yeah i've been to his house for dinner parties in baltimore w/ my parents its gigantic, they have the biggest pool

  • Precioso, felicidades

  • Coooooooooool

  • imagine studying under barrueco. wow. incredible guitarist!

  • @jacobcs I totally want to go to the Peabody Institute where he teaches master classes. It would absolutely the coolest thing ever. Unfortunately, I'm a senior in high school and I've only just started studying classical. Damn my desire to play acoustic as a foolish young boy.

  • @scthp15 My current teacher graduated the peabody as the top solo performer in his class a few years back, he never studied under Barrueco but even being in the same institution with him would be an honor. Thats deffinently my goal after my undergrad studies is to head up to new york for grad school. keep playing! if you have a passion for guitar than it will show in you're studies.

  • Barrueco has long been my favorite guitarist in the classical world. Thanks for putting this up.

  • 1:12 when he plays the cord the audience turn on the lighters!

    That's freakin' cool!!!

  • muy bueno el dvd!!

  • Uh, holy shit. This makes me feel like an asshole for thinking that I was good at classical.

  • Very good. Dear friends, what about the interpretation by Sergio GUIDO?

  • what is the name of this song?

  • @mildew2yahoo Asturias

  • marketing...

  • so what

  • Grandios!!!

  • marketing...

  • no marketing. passion

  • nooooooo

  • marketing...

  • 1:00 lololzz

  • the scene of him practicing in the car is the best! i've done that countless times in the past.

once i was pulled over for driving and practicing guitar at the same time. it was a half size guitar i boucht just for that ... the cop was just standing there staring at me saying "you cant be serious!" I got out of a ticket by playing a couple of songs. ha ha

but don't try that at home kids!

  • yah cept he probably got paid like a million dollars for that. It was the lexus ad that is so famous

  • lol

  • Haha that's so awesome, my guitar teacher does that too!

  • @joeylodes the playing in the car was a superbowl lexus commericial he did in the early 90's

  • Thank you so much, would you by any chance have his unearthly beautiful rendition of The Long and Winding Road by the Beatles? I have been trying to find it everywhere. It was done with the London Symphony Orchestra. Again, thank you.

  • I also like your recording quality, it looks and sounds very professional. I would like to improve the quality of youtube videos as we will all enjoy them so much more. You have won a new subscriber.

  • Because him I bought a Lexus, and I dont regret a bit.

  • plop!!! that is all?? tha is it??? noo/...

  • wow, quiero que sea mi maestro

  • Classical guitarists are amazing! Hands down. Such precision and accuracy is purely a gift of god!

  • @Rizzo12388 speaking from experience...it isn't a gift from God...it's the result of years and years of long days of practicing

I'm not even very good, but I can extrapolate this much from my limited guitar education.

  • @Rizzo12388 As opposed to effort, will, discipline? :P Damn, I guess I should've been waiting for someone to bless me with magical powers this whole time.

  • Williams is Williams.. Barruecos is Barruecos. they're both incredible..

  • @versusdc

    imagine a threesome, oh fuck

  • moore Barrueco on youtube plzzzz. My mom dun gimme money to buy music cd -_____-

  • williams

  • whoa I wonder hu got the better technique, Barrueco or Williams..

  • dyens!!!!!!!

  • veramente eccellente...nonostante questo brano non sia di chissà che grande difficoltà, barrueco riesce a conferigli una certa eleganza. In confronto, le versioni di asturias di williams e segovia fan veramente cagare.

  • I thought I recognized that first part from the beginning of The Door's song Spanish Caravan.

  • Yes, yes. It is all "Leyenda (Asturias)" by Isaac Albeniz, The Doors used it also :)

  • lol to you think they do promotion for the asturias? its the dvd called a gift and a life

  • Manuel Barrueco is the best classical guitarist of all time. Thanks for your music.

  • He is a genius, and as a classical guitarist myself, I am a big fan of his, the song he is playing is also NOT A Gift and a Life, I don't know where that came from, it is Asturias.

  • That is the name of the DVD.

  • yeah, i figured that out a bit later, thanx anyway though

  • orestesdd:

And he studied with another Cuban friend of mine who passed away a few years ago and probably the best classical guitarrist I have ever seen Mr Juan Mercadal. We were both born in the same town of Guanabacoa, Cuba. Kind Regards

  • I met him personally a few years ago when my daughter was 6 or 7 years old. She is now 14. He was here in San Francisco, and after his performance, he was gracious enough to sign his autograph on his CDs for my daughter. I am very proud that he is cuban like me, and that he is doing so well here in the USA. I have seen Leo Brouwer play, and Mr. Barrueco is as good as Mr. Bouwer, and they are both cubans.

  • A Gift and a Life?

    that's Asturias.

I'm sorry but I didn't understand the title

  • That's the name of Barrueco documentary

  • He used to take us out to desert after masterclasses when I was in conservatory! A great player nad an even better guy. hehe

  • Had the pleasure of meeting Manuel back in 1988 when he performed with the Missouri Symphony Society in Columbia. What an incredible talent!

  • Genuine!!!

  • woooooow!

  • amazing!!!

  • notevole

  • Grande Barrueco.

Grande

  • ma è bravissimoooooooooooooo!!!!

    complimenti a lui...

  • I think what impresses me the most is that he's so consistent in tempo over the years- to the extent that they can use two different performances of him playing this piece for video with only one soundtrack.

  • that was like frigen awesome

  • is he the best of the known guitarists today?

  • Well, he is one of the best. There are so many great guitarists today... esp. the young ones coming up.

  • This piece is so cliche but...it has berought people into listening!!

Listen to Barrueco play Rodrigos Evocation and dance.

    Now THATS mastery!

  • It really takes a lot of energy to pull this piece off. I know from personal experience. If you don't give it 110 percent you're not going to sell it to the audience. Manuel's performance here is one of the best I've seen. Great energy and focus. One of the best players out there.

  • zelf live gezien op dat moment was een kippevelmoment. schitterend gewoon.

  • Very good guitarrist...Manuel Barrueco, Gabriel Estarellas and David Russell are my favorite players.

  • barrueco is remarkable, one of my favorites! bream of course my all time, he plays more intimately.

  • Yep. One of the Best Classical players alive.

    Nice.

  • My mom loves him. She thinks he plays beautifully and I agree.

  • that was amazing

  • What is the name of that song?

  • Asturias. Written by the Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz.

  • Thanks

  • asturias (leyenda) by isaac albeniz

  • to me he's better than segovia, esp in terms of his style

  • (One of the0 Greatest guitarist since Segovia!

  • süperrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • please ... post more .This is my fav guitarist. Thanks
