My mother and father broke up when i was 4 years old, needless to say both of them regret their decision, i was obviously devestated. But after all that i still see him a few times a week. My father died a month ago from a disease which is called ALS. I loved him very much and still do. He was the best father in the world, even if the last two years he could barely move. His last words to me and my sister were: "I am so proud of you I would love to accompany you through your life."

Dear @aarod24 as someone who lost her father nearly a yr ago, but who considers themselves fairly rational, I'd like to explain. Every death/tragedy affects plpl different ways. In most cases it's not that the person speaking is trying to get sympathy at all. It's about feeling a connection to that person, to those moments through song which is one of THE most powerful emotional conductors there are. You cant know until in their shoes, & since thats not possible u cant know how it affected them.

My father passed away 2 years ago(when I was 10) of Lou Gehrigs Disease(and ALS)..I miss him a lot but hes better off in heaven now. He suffered for 10 years from it because no cure had yet been found, and still hasn't. In the actual music video, at 2:49 is a photo of my brother holding a picture of my dad, just to say. I love this. I relate to this song not because of the reasons of Fathers Dying but because I never knew my father. He left when I was little and I was too young to remember it. I don't relate to it in ways because the song can remember things where as I believe if my Father had said anything to me that I can remember it may have made me a better person then I am today.
