3:34 "...overall, the Coyote is our friend and not our enemy and not going to go around killing our children but we do have to be careful..." Our friend? Wow...Okay, I get it that attacks on humans are rare. But it's not because the Coyotes are our "friends"...it's because Coyotes are small. If much larger they'd take us out in a heartbeat. They kill our small pets and lure our larger pets to be attacked by several Coyotes and they attack weak humans such as small children and folk singers.
I hate how these shows emphasize fear and make them look more vicious, evil, and scary than they really are. It's nature, we've overlapped it, conflicts happen - doesn't mean the coyote should be vilified in the same archaic fashion that wolves have been for centuries, leading to their extirpation in many regions. Sad.
in the last 500 yrs four people have been killed by coyote or wolf, in North America.. twenty people per YEAR are killed by domestic pet dogs..These wolf attacks were either rabid or human habituated animals used to getting food from humans.
where i live in the summer, in Moclips, WA, the coyotes and wolves wander the streets, probably because there are forests near by and there is a lot of garbage cans. And they don't seem to want anything do with humans. On one occasion, a coyote came into my yard. I hit two pieces of firewood together and it booked.
I would say that both sides are ignorant. We do have to hunt Coyotes and maintain their numbers, but I keep seeing some rednecks that actually retardedly advocate wiping out every Coyote they can find. It's still their land, and they are cool animals. We just need to learn how to live with them and protect ourselves at the same time.
I've lived in Phoenix and have seen a coyote come into a group of people sitting outside and grab a poodle and keep going. It happened so fast no one knew what happened for a minute. I don't hate coyotes because they are just doing what nature intended but I believe if they pose a threat to people or pets close to the city they either need to be relocated or put down. They are very subseptical to rabies.
People, a coyote is a shy, small animal. The only possible reason it could have for letting itself be seen by something as huge as a human is rabies. If you walk out and it runs off, so far so good. If it comes back or stays, you have to shoot before it attacks.
wow. its stupid the laws protecting animals i live in medicine hat alberta we have rattle snakes and its against the law to kill them cause their endanger but if i found one in my yard id kill it and just not say a word
we are not the fucking coyotes prey. i find no need to blast and kill them. it is our fault for letting our young wonder far from us. in my opinion we are much more dominant than the little those little rats and we should find other ways to put them in their place.
@prjibaro1 comparing coyotes to pit bulls is the stupides thing I've ever heard. unless you're comparing the ill treatment both species recieve from humans. Aggressive dogs are the product of illinformd and aggressive/ abusive owners. In coyotes defense, they did populate these areas before we did... technically we live in THEIR territory. just because we comandeered the land and claimed it as our doesn't mean it belongs to us and doesn't give us the right to kill them simple because hey exist
@prjibaro1 i have known a lot of pit bulls awesome awesome breed very protective ive been bitten by a lot of small dogs and wouldn't mind soccer kicking them
Yes, I know, it depnds of the breeder, I know a neighbor who has two of them, they are also well behaved dogs.Their mother and gradnma live next door(of the dogs)
IN NEW JERSEY!? WOW! I grew up in New Jersey... never seen a Coyote there. Now I live in Wyoming... wouldn't surprise me to run across one now,... but in NJ? Wow..
Looks like they need a Coyote season.
Here, Coyote Season is all year round, no limit on how many you kill either.
For one have you seen them at your window. If so you need to take care of this problem. either you need to trap them or hunt them. relocating will do nothing to change the yoties behavior, but will just casue problems for someone else. It sounds to me like the people who owned your house before you or someone near you feeds them. The animals have associated people with food and since you don't feed them they are looking around to find some.
what the fuck are you talking about im a hunter man and in my comments i said i wish there was human hunting and then you say the same to me in a reply lmao.
im a socialist bro, by the way liberals aren't treehuggers, just fools who don't know the first thing about freedom. publicityhuggers.
I dont care if your from the city or as far in the country asyou can get, when there is young kids and animals around, you shoot them. Like its your family pet or chlid vs. a attacking animal? Shoot the fricken thing?!
I just bought a new home. Its in the foothills outside the city I lived in. I have been here a week...and every night starting in the early evening, before the sun set,.the coyotes start howling. There are marks on my windows from the them standing on my porch looking in the windows. Even when I am home and making noise. I have to say its unsettling. The distant howls are eerie cool but not, (like right now...lol) them howling just out of sight of my motion detector lights. And the fighting etc.
@DEBRACRANFORD, I get it, What you need to do is get a Camera or 2 with Night vision, and post them around your home. LEAVE THE INSIDE LIGHTS ON CURTINS SHUT, FOR A NIGHT OR 2. Than check and see HOW MANY COYOTES THERE ARE. Than turn your Motion detector lights BACK ON. They have already figured out the motion detectors lights. You may want to think about borrowing a friends (ADULT) Pitt Bull 2 if possible or buying some to raise for your self. If not get a Rifle and get lessons on how to use it
@commonman80 I am about that height and slim...and I see a few of them during the day running across the property. But always singly. I live on 10 acres and they seem to only be on my hills. I make sure there is no food for them to eat outside. I got this house cause I wanted to get a pup..not an aggressive dog. IT does kinda worry me that they have been coming up to the windows....that I have never heard of. And I did think of the motion activated cameras. Ick...I am just a city girl.
@DEBRACRANFORD, I use to live in San Bernardino County CA. We saw this activity all the time. The Sheriff Dept would not allow that sort of activity and would kill them. They know what these animals are capable of. You should Never walk your property alone or without a weapon. You really need an aggressive dog or (2) trained to protect you. From what your telling me YOUR NOT SAFE IF YOU LIVE ALONE. They have already spotted you. They are just looking for the right time to attack.
@DEBRACRANFORD, Continued: You should contact your local Animal Control or Sheriff Dept. Let them know that you live alone and they are coming up to the windows and sniffing around the doors. You should also let them know YOU DO NOT LEAVE FOOD OUT SIDE YOUR HOUSE. Believe it or not THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION. In the mean time You REALLY should think about borrowing a friends (ADULT) Pitt Bull or (2).
@DEBRACRANFORD Well they aren't a lone. Coyotes hunt in packs of 2. The basically fish when one is seen the other is waiting to pitch in to help kill you. Never let that puppy outside without you. The very best way to get rid of them is to get wolf urine. Coyotes are scared of Wolves. Anything smelling like a wolf is bad news for a Coyote. Get it put it in a bag let it drip through out the property. They'll stop coming around.
@LordHannigan I was told that.....but I was thinking....if they have never seen or been attacked by wolves will they stlll be wary of them? Is that a stupid question to ask?
@LordHannigan The only other thing I could think of is getting a wolf. Its possible I know a women on my island. That has two Wolves. Not hybrids real 100% Wolves. If you grow it up with you're other puppy. No Coyote will mess with a dog with a Wolf as back up.
@DEBRACRANFORD, Continued: The "Howling" your hearing is doing EXACTLY WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO DO. The howling is to make its prey nervous and start to run so they can weed out the weak and attack it. Now, if they are coming TO YOUR HOUSE, That means YOU ARE ON THEIR LIST AS PREY. Witch means, Your Small in stature, (5ft 5in) or less. Thin, or Slim, and are often Alone when you come home. If you are alone in your back yard or leave the door open to your home, in time, THEY WILL ATTACK YOU.
@DEBRACRANFORD, Oh yeah one more thing, I don't know what part of America you live in. But, sounds like the South Western parts. Be that as it may. Here's something you can try to see if their around your house at night or when your gone. Sprinkle Talcum Powder of Baby powder on the outsides of the windows and doors they come up to when you leave for work or before you go to bed. Check for paw prints. DO NOT USE FLOUR. THAT'S FOOD. Let me know what you see. Good luck and be safe.
@commonman80 I live in central california. I did the powder thing tonight and will check in the morning. There were more paw prints on the glass this morning. 2 sets of them. One was a lot larger than the other. Its obvious that they are standing on their hind legs to look in. Which doesn't make much sense because all the windows on that large porch are wall sized. So why stand on their hind legs? I did hear one at the door earlier (same porch, 3 wall windows and 2 doors) One opens to the M-BR.
@DEBRACRANFORD, Their more than likely standing on their hind legs to try and figure out how to get in. It seems THEY KNOW THE GLASS IS THERE but they have not figured out how to get through it yet. For a human it would be easy. Their PROBLEM SOLVING. They will figure out SOONER OR LATER that the only way in, is Through an open window, or one of your doors. These animals ARE PREDITORS. They survive by out smarting their prey. You should really get a gun or a couple of Pitt Bulls.
@commonman80 I did the powder....I only had lavender scented so i think they avoided the powder under the windows for a few days...but they were back last night and the prints are all over the porch....I called animal control and they said to contact the wildlife removal ppl. I have to pay extra to have them dropped off somewhere that is less populated. ICK.
@DEBRACRANFORD, Their passing the buck. You need to get someone who will get rid of them. I really don't think your safe there. To "have them dropped off somewhere that is less populated" is nuts. They will just return. Who knows where they migrated from. The coyotes in this video came from the south west. So you think if they were taken back to the south west, they wouldn't know how to get back to New Jersey. To come to your porch is really bold. They must know your alone, and female. Get help.
@DEBRACRANFORD Just an update for me. I still don't have a dog...the coyote population has exploded here. They still come to my windows and even with a crowd of people sitting on my back deck they will surround the house and howl to each other. I have a good friend that trains dogs for search and rescue in the hills in northern california where there are plenty of coyotes. She recorded them here because she had never seen so many in one area.
@DEBRACRANFORD What I wanted to say is that even though I dont have a dog yet (too nervous to lose one to the coyotes) I still limit going outside after dusk. They still make me nervous with their nightly howling and the paw and nose prints on the windows but I am not as scared as I was when I first moved here.
Uptight about hunting? No, hunting is fine if you're doing it for survival. Killing animals for shit and giggles and or because you think it makes you look tough is cowardly.
The problem isn't the animals it's stupid / greedy humans as usual.
Hunting for food isn't hunting to survive... Hunting is hunting, it is in our system, and people want to be all politically correct over this dumb shit. Animals are not equal, people need to fucking see that.
lol listen up kiddo. I don't care what the bible tells you . Humans are equal to animals and no better.. we bleed and cry and flail just like any other animal.
One day in your life you'll see how little the earth needs you. Animals are actually more important on the planet than humans are.
Fuck i wish they had human hunting, round them up with lassos and guns and bows. keep there heads for trophies. after all they are just dirty versions of monkeys.
Your worshipping the creation isnt anything,New, Enlightened, or wise. and you can tell you have never been truly hungry, Like a coyote.
or as sexually starved as a male lion, that will kill cubs so it can have sex with their mother. wait, oh yea ,,,,thats right you said you would kill your own kind ! I take it back there is animalistic traits in some humans.
your reply is completely irrelevant to what i stated.
I didn't say i was worshiping anything there guido.
read what i wrote again.
OF COARSE humans have animalistic traits we are animals who function on instinct .
The basis was to justify humans are not above another living thing on this earth.
numo 2= yes i said i'd kill another human . know why? becuase animals forgive we all can live in harmony. humans are parasites of unhappiness who we will never live in harmony.
@iunno2222 Man I wish they had liberal and treehugger hunting, I'd blast their fucking faces like I do the wolves. One day, you'll see hunters help the planet, and you're a blind motherfucker that can't find his ass with 2 hands.
@mrcardio9r Survival of the fittest... And mrcardio it is not greedy human taking away their habitat, its the evolution and growth of the world. Its not as simple as people wanting more so they build more. Its the demand to have to build. As families are producing 4-5 children in their life, then those children go out and do the same... And with the advancement of medical science, they do that will a life span that is 20-30 years longer than 5 decades ago. The world population grows
@mrcardio9r Then the demand to build bigger and better entities for ourselves and our children forces bigger companies. This is what our race, Human, has done since God put us here: create success of our race and better things around us.You wouldnt have the internet to even debate this topic if it wasnt for that. So before you go accusing our race, which includes yourself, for being greedy, stop and think about all the things you have that contribute to that. But what do I know, I a dumb Fireman
FOR FUCKS SAKE PEOPLE -- coyotes are heavily overpopulated, and every hunter killing 2 of them each year would hardly make a dent in the population... But only around half of people with hunting licenses hunt coyotes... and some don't even get one...
The bottom line is this, in Pa. they are fair game, no season no limits. I go no where without a firearm ever. These things are dog shaped rats encroaching on urban areas. Fuck you tree hugging scum. Until we annihilate each other and the roaches take over we are the top of the food chain. With the help of Spring Field Armory, Smith & Wesson and Taurus I intend to keep it that way. Shoot these things on site maggots need to eat to.
If i was in this kids position i would of probably make the thing bleed.... not that i hate animals... ive been with a wild wolf that i see almost every day in the woods and he trusts me enough to sit with me and give me crazy licks on the face and will even trust me to come with him and explore even let me pet him... i know it sounds crazy a 14 year old boy with a wolf in the woods but i know these animals and ive learnt their ways... i can take this coyote down... no doubts
I was once attacked by a dog when I was three, and it wasn't until the next day was I sent to the hospital. They told my dad I had to get fingers removed since my hand was infected the most. It was the same day my brother was being born in the hospital...
BUT this doesn't mean I hate animals.
I actually still love that dog whether it knows it or not, or even hates me or not. I forgive it with all my heart, sometimes animals act out of instinct.
for some reason i feel i i saw one i would immediatley run to it as fast i can and drop kick it then i would strangle it unless it was like sleeping. which if it woke up and came running after me it would like dive and get me and i would just stick my foot out and shove my size 10 boot in its face
idiot people dont seem to understand wherever there is green, theyre are risks of being attacked unless your simply surrounded by concrete like in new york haha
you bunch of liberal hippies.... If that coyote came near my yard, specially around kids, i'd blast it. No questions asked. Thats why it is open season where I am from 24 hours a day, year round. I am an animal lover. I have two chocolate labs and consider them part of the family, but I wouldn't take a chance on giving a preditor an inch around my family. It's not worth a chance. I live in a suburban town and see coyotes often and shoot every chance I get.
@macrain13 Agreed. Put a bullet in it's fuckin' head, that's for sure. I got a coyote in my back yard, before. .22 Rimfire Rifle, didn't have the chance to get it on tape.
@allaplay I am an asshole for wanting to protect my family? Your a retard for not.. Whats the difference in a crackhead breaking in your house to steal your TV or a Child melester trying to kidnap your kids or a coyote hunting in your yard.. If a preditor of any kind, including your stupid ass, comes at my family with the intent to harm, I will be happy to put a bullet in their head. And the United States Judicial System sees it that way too....
@macrain13, Coyotes ARE NOT "OUR FRIENDS". Some people think, for some reason, that Man and Wild Animals can live in Harmony together. I wish they would wake up. LIFE IS NOT A DISNEY MOVIE!! These animals, WILL KILL AND EAT HUMANS, AND OR OUR CHILDREN IF THEY NEEDED TO, TO SURVIVE. You are 100% CORRECT to kill Coyotes you see around your home. They ARE NOT just passing through. More than like, they are MARKING TERRITORY, and YOU AND YOUR FAMILY are TREIR prey in TREIR TERRITORY.
@commonman80 Thanks bro, finally another person here that has a clue. I dont usually care to waste time posting stuff, but it just seems crazy how some people's can reason with allowing their family to be subject to the possiblity of harm.... But as long as there are those that see things differently, we will have debate and forumns like this will get more hits and that company will sell more advertising, make more money and build a bigger business. Ultimately more habitat destroyed, less coyote
@macrain13, Brain dead people who Love Nature, seem to think, that if they Love Nature, Nature will Love them back. BULL SHIT!! I Love the beauty of Nature too. However, I refuse to be Naive to what it CAN, AND WILL, DO TO ME OR MY FAMILY IF I DON'T USE THE BRAIN THAT EVOLUTION HAS PROVIDED ME.
I wonder how these people would feel if they walked into their back yard to see a Coyote or 2 with their noses pulling the Guts out of their kids belly and gulping them down as they run away from them.
@commonman80 OK hold up I live in the suburbs and have a bunch of hills with cayotes in them I see them ALL the time I have a spotted pointer and little children BROS &SIS and they never try to hurt us we just scare them off NO shooting it would only attack if it had rabies ok besides we took there home HUMANS!!!!
@commonman80 OK hold up I live in the suburbs and have a bunch of hills with coyotes in them I see them ALL the time I have a spotted pointer and little children BROS &SIS and they never try to hurt us we just scare them off NO shooting it would only attack if it had rabies ok besides US HUMANS TOOK THERE HOMES!!!!
@commonman80 humans are animals too not saying we should go live out in the woods but godamn this is ridiculous exactly like the godamn asians killing off tigers because their dangerous respect nature even if it is your front or back yard because you never know what lies around the corner....and i would much rather blame the parents watch your kids....
@ghostinfacekilla2, I clearly understand your point. However, PEOPLE COME FIRST. I am sorry, I can't allow ANYTHING TO EAT MY CHILDREN... Be it a flea, mouse, bird, or a coyote. (Life) has its limits. No matter what type of (LIFE) it may be.
@commonman80 i beg to differ because or understandings are different....if you watch your kids this stuff wouldnt happen unless you cant fight off a scavenger that weighs about the size of a 5-7 year old child
@ghostinfacekilla2, Mankind EVOLVED A BRAIN to protect us. MANKIND DOES NOT HAVE THE ABILITY to fight 95% of the mamals on earth THAT EAT MEAT. With our bare hands. I'm 6ft 3'' Tall. My weight is about 220lbs. I know for fact that I CAN NOT fight off a 45lb WHILD ANIMAL THAT EATS MEAT, without a weapon. So I use what Evolution has givin me to survive. MY FREEKEN BRAIN. And, my brain says, KILL THAT BEAST IF IT THREATENS ME OR MINE in any way. In other words, IT STAYS CLEAR OR DIES.
@commonman80 wow you must feel badass killing an animal that scavanges most of the time and no....mankind can kill quite alot of animals....bare hands....if you cant fight off a coyote then idk what disabillity you have because i have kicked one before that was attacking my cat a good 20 30 pound one....that is pitiful if you cant fight one of these off....
@commonman80 Yes, I don't understand that hippie Disney Movie nonsense. Wild animals are neither our friends nor our enemies. They are just there doing what they are programmed to do. That said, imho harmony is possible, but not in the sense of walking through the forest surrounded by friendly birds, wolves, bears etc. Living together with occasional conflicts yet without seriously affecting eachother is harmony too. Fact is, people shouldn't be getting into coyote's territory...
@commonman80 ... if they don't want a conflict. Humans move ever further into the wilderness and more or less unwillingly provoke these situations. They might not want the conflicts, but they don't stay away from the edge of the woods either. Animals always pull the shortest straw in these situations. It's sad humans are so intelligent in comparison with other animals, yet very often don't want to see or lack the intelligence to actually see the consequences of their actions.
@commonman80 I've been stalked walking with a buddy. They surrounded us in the trees making noise. We went back to back and growled at them refusing to run like prey and they ditched the idea of ambushing us. Their instincts keep them alive and running triggers them. Coyotes are only dangerous when extremely hungry, Your walking alone at night in the woods with no one to watch your back, if you run like a dumbass, or if your small enough for them to consider attacking. They are verysmart animals
@macrain13 I hear yeah dude, gotta protect your family. Thats all it comes down to after all. I mean girls are ment to neature. Any male in any species job is to make sure everyone else is safe. I mean a female will do the same, but its the males main job. I have no problem with you defending whats yours.
I highly agree with you. I have a cat and a dog and they are my life i wouldnt know what id do without them.
AND IF ANY ANIMAL FUCKS WITH MY CAT AND DOG THEYRE GONNA GET A BAT THE THE FUCKIN FACE IF THEY EVEN SNIFF MY CAT AND DOG!!!! AND I DONT TOLERATE THEM TRYING FOR A KILL!!!!!
Just wait until those "pacifist" pansy ass liberal hippies decide to enlist the help of a bunch of Jack Booted Thugs in body armor to come take your guns. =/
sooo...they killed it without making sure, so it was probably a random coyote that was a mother also. they could've taken it away from the town/city, but nooo, too much work. ugh.
@KillerKyle99 I agree with you. That coyote was probably not the one and then it had a baby that needing feeding and taking care of. I wish people woudl care a little more about wildlife.
when they bite them in the back of the neck that means they think the humans are their kids. Coyotes bite them in the back of the neck to carry their kids, because most cats and dogs don't have nerves there. i believe this show is just for publicity instead of educational purposes which should be the idea
@Millard97 Oh for God sake get a life and leave the wildlife alone. Killing for the sake of killing is nothing to boast about. You are sick and quite thick
sadly people never tell their children to yell and scream at wild animals to get rid of them. i had to scare away a wolf and black bears when i was just a few years older than that kid in northern michigan. ALWAYS have a big stick to smack a tree with. watch that big black bear RUN.
@A4moondoggy As another kid that grew up in northern MI, yeah I get what you're saying. I'd bring a knife with me whenever I'd be out in the woods just in case. Fortunately the biggest thing that ever attacked me out there was a partridge lol. But many people out here in the city and suburbs are very ignorant when it comes to wildlife. They either think every little squirrel is out to kill them, or that big coyote or bear going through their garbage wants to be their friend.
lol my bro can like AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! when a coyote attack when i see a coyote grab my bro and my bro say aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! and the coyote
What a horrible case of irresponsability. These people lived in coyote country and didnt even put fences up? What retards. Its would be the same if thay lived right next to a busy street and let there smaller children play cairlessly near it.
Its not surprising that thay are biting smaller kids now, we have taken so much land, hunted so many deer for selfish reasons that what are thay supposed to do for food? WE are to blame, WE are tasked with fixing this. To kill them off is irresponsable
@GriffinR34 you do know a coyote can clear a 6 to 8 foot fence right? and that they have any where form 1-19 pups a year? that they hunt kill and eat anything form rabbits to horses? they are scavangers.... this has nothign to do with us over hunting deer. And hunting for selfsih reason you are such a tree hugger, you cant kill coyotes off it wouldnt happen.
@JCrain03 Thats what thay said about wolves.. Putting a fence up would deter most if not all yotes. Unless theres somthing in there that would really make them want to get in there.
There is lots of options that are non violent and protect you fully from these sorts of encounters. Believe me, if you choose not to do them.. it shows what kind of person you really are inside.
@GriffinR34 lol woul dyou kill a rat or a mouse? its the same idea here man they jump fences just fine i have watched them do it and they are much different than wolves, they are a wild animal and they do damge and are very dangerous
To be honest, I would not kill a rat. I would get a trap that enclosed them and then let them loose somwere else.
There are many non-violent deterants, and not all of them maime or kill. It would be worth my time and effort to put a caged animal in the back of my truck and relocait it elswere and never worry about it again. Knowing I respected gods creatures.
@GriffinR34 lol you are always gonna have a pest problem then, rats mice, coyotes all manner of animals like that will come back. An dont give that respect gods creatures bit, god made man to have domain over animals, the biggest reason to hunt coyotes is to help control their population they have no natural predetor here on the east coast which means if they number to many alot of them will starve to death .
omg really peeps ..friend ha ..as stated below there was one young girl here were iam from cape breton that was kill by 2 ...when she was just walkin on a hikin traill ..now there was a young 16 yr old here also that was bitten twice on her head while campin with her family but we can be friends with them ..no shoot the bastards and all that we can
Complete bullshit. I can't beleive that they have this show on Animal Planet, of all channels. Why do people kill animals? Fear. Fear that is bred from bullshit propaganda like this. A fair sized dog could easily overpower a single coyote. And the truth is, more then a single coyote appearing in a populated area at all is an extremely rare occurence at best. This should not be taken seriously, stories and shows like this are only there because fear sells.
Coyotes are our friend what idiot so called experts said that? There has been 100's of attacks in North America and a young lady was just killed by 2 coyotes in Canada.
"Overall the coyote is our friend" ... "When you make them tame they attack." What utter BS!!!! How is the coyote our 'friend'?! These animals that attacked were in no way tame - we have become tame! The DEC in NY says no shooting of predatory animals on your property. More BS. The DEC has become more powerful than the IRS, thanks to the nutso animal rights activists.
IT IS INSTINCT I SHOULD BE RELOCATED OR PUT DOWN ONLY IF IT IS A PROBLEM THAT KEEPS HAPPENING THEY DONT GET COOKED MEALS EVERY NIGHT THEY HAVE TO FIGHT TO SURVIVE
ITS A WILD ANIMAL DONT YOU LIKE HAVING WILD ANIMALS AROUND OR SHOULD WE JUST SHOOT THEM ALL , ITS UNFORTUNATE THIS CHILD WAS ATTACKED BUT DOSNT MEAN WE HAVE TO KILL EVERY WILD ANIMAL THAT WOULD SUCK TO NOT HAVE WILD ANIMALS AROUND THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL

People, a coyote is a shy, small animal. The only possible reason it could have for letting itself be seen by something as huge as a human is rabies. If you walk out and it runs off, so far so good. If it comes back or stays, you have to shoot before it attacks.

For one have you seen them at your window. If so you need to take care of this problem. either you need to trap them or hunt them. relocating will do nothing to change the yoties behavior, but will just casue problems for someone else. It sounds to me like the people who owned your house before you or someone near you feeds them. The animals have associated people with food and since you don't feed them they are looking around to find some.

countrygirlllll96 11 months ago
I just bought a new home. Its in the foothills outside the city I lived in. I have been here a week...and every night starting in the early evening, before the sun set,.the coyotes start howling. There are marks on my windows from the them standing on my porch looking in the windows. Even when I am home and making noise. I have to say its unsettling. The distant howls are eerie cool but not, (like right now...lol) them howling just out of sight of my motion detector lights. And the fighting etc.
DEBRACRANFORD 1 year ago
@DEBRACRANFORD, I get it, What you need to do is get a Camera or 2 with Night vision, and post them around your home. LEAVE THE INSIDE LIGHTS ON CURTINS SHUT, FOR A NIGHT OR 2. Than check and see HOW MANY COYOTES THERE ARE. Than turn your Motion detector lights BACK ON. They have already figured out the motion detectors lights. You may want to think about borrowing a friends (ADULT) Pitt Bull 2 if possible or buying some to raise for your self. If not get a Rifle and get lessons on how to use it
commonman80 1 year ago
@commonman80 I am about that height and slim...and I see a few of them during the day running across the property. But always singly. I live on 10 acres and they seem to only be on my hills. I make sure there is no food for them to eat outside. I got this house cause I wanted to get a pup..not an aggressive dog. IT does kinda worry me that they have been coming up to the windows....that I have never heard of. And I did think of the motion activated cameras. Ick...I am just a city girl.
DEBRACRANFORD 1 year ago
@DEBRACRANFORD, I use to live in San Bernardino County CA. We saw this activity all the time. The Sheriff Dept would not allow that sort of activity and would kill them. They know what these animals are capable of. You should Never walk your property alone or without a weapon. You really need an aggressive dog or (2) trained to protect you. From what your telling me YOUR NOT SAFE IF YOU LIVE ALONE. They have already spotted you. They are just looking for the right time to attack.
commonman80 1 year ago
@DEBRACRANFORD, Continued: You should contact your local Animal Control or Sheriff Dept. Let them know that you live alone and they are coming up to the windows and sniffing around the doors. You should also let them know YOU DO NOT LEAVE FOOD OUT SIDE YOUR HOUSE. Believe it or not THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION. In the mean time You REALLY should think about borrowing a friends (ADULT) Pitt Bull or (2).
Good Luck and Be careful.
commonman80 1 year ago
@DEBRACRANFORD Well they aren't a lone. Coyotes hunt in packs of 2. The basically fish when one is seen the other is waiting to pitch in to help kill you. Never let that puppy outside without you. The very best way to get rid of them is to get wolf urine. Coyotes are scared of Wolves. Anything smelling like a wolf is bad news for a Coyote. Get it put it in a bag let it drip through out the property. They'll stop coming around.
LordHannigan 11 months ago
@LordHannigan I was told that.....but I was thinking....if they have never seen or been attacked by wolves will they stlll be wary of them? Is that a stupid question to ask?
DEBRACRANFORD 11 months ago
@DEBRACRANFORD. Ten out of Ten times a Coyote is going to run from a Wolf everytime. Not even Murphys law applies on this one.
LordHannigan 11 months ago
@LordHannigan The only other thing I could think of is getting a wolf. Its possible I know a women on my island. That has two Wolves. Not hybrids real 100% Wolves. If you grow it up with you're other puppy. No Coyote will mess with a dog with a Wolf as back up.
LordHannigan 11 months ago
@LordHannigan I bet! And thank you for the info. I have looked up the wolf urine...lol. What an odd thing to google,
DEBRACRANFORD 11 months ago
@DEBRACRANFORD, Continued: The "Howling" your hearing is doing EXACTLY WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO DO. The howling is to make its prey nervous and start to run so they can weed out the weak and attack it. Now, if they are coming TO YOUR HOUSE, That means YOU ARE ON THEIR LIST AS PREY. Witch means, Your Small in stature, (5ft 5in) or less. Thin, or Slim, and are often Alone when you come home. If you are alone in your back yard or leave the door open to your home, in time, THEY WILL ATTACK YOU.
commonman80 1 year ago
@DEBRACRANFORD, Oh yeah one more thing, I don't know what part of America you live in. But, sounds like the South Western parts. Be that as it may. Here's something you can try to see if their around your house at night or when your gone. Sprinkle Talcum Powder of Baby powder on the outsides of the windows and doors they come up to when you leave for work or before you go to bed. Check for paw prints. DO NOT USE FLOUR. THAT'S FOOD. Let me know what you see. Good luck and be safe.
commonman80 1 year ago
@commonman80 I live in central california. I did the powder thing tonight and will check in the morning. There were more paw prints on the glass this morning. 2 sets of them. One was a lot larger than the other. Its obvious that they are standing on their hind legs to look in. Which doesn't make much sense because all the windows on that large porch are wall sized. So why stand on their hind legs? I did hear one at the door earlier (same porch, 3 wall windows and 2 doors) One opens to the M-BR.
DEBRACRANFORD 1 year ago
@DEBRACRANFORD, Their more than likely standing on their hind legs to try and figure out how to get in. It seems THEY KNOW THE GLASS IS THERE but they have not figured out how to get through it yet. For a human it would be easy. Their PROBLEM SOLVING. They will figure out SOONER OR LATER that the only way in, is Through an open window, or one of your doors. These animals ARE PREDITORS. They survive by out smarting their prey. You should really get a gun or a couple of Pitt Bulls.
commonman80 11 months ago
@commonman80 I will let you know. You have been a wealth of info...thank you!!
DEBRACRANFORD 1 year ago
@commonman80 I did the powder....I only had lavender scented so i think they avoided the powder under the windows for a few days...but they were back last night and the prints are all over the porch....I called animal control and they said to contact the wildlife removal ppl. I have to pay extra to have them dropped off somewhere that is less populated. ICK.
DEBRACRANFORD 11 months ago
@DEBRACRANFORD, Their passing the buck. You need to get someone who will get rid of them. I really don't think your safe there. To "have them dropped off somewhere that is less populated" is nuts. They will just return. Who knows where they migrated from. The coyotes in this video came from the south west. So you think if they were taken back to the south west, they wouldn't know how to get back to New Jersey. To come to your porch is really bold. They must know your alone, and female. Get help.
commonman80 11 months ago
@commonman80, When I said their passing the buck, I meant the authorities are passing the buck.
commonman80 11 months ago
@DEBRACRANFORD Just an update for me. I still don't have a dog...the coyote population has exploded here. They still come to my windows and even with a crowd of people sitting on my back deck they will surround the house and howl to each other. I have a good friend that trains dogs for search and rescue in the hills in northern california where there are plenty of coyotes. She recorded them here because she had never seen so many in one area.
DEBRACRANFORD 3 weeks ago
@DEBRACRANFORD What I wanted to say is that even though I dont have a dog yet (too nervous to lose one to the coyotes) I still limit going outside after dusk. They still make me nervous with their nightly howling and the paw and nose prints on the windows but I am not as scared as I was when I first moved here.

The world population grows
macrain13 1 year ago
@mrcardio9r Then the demand to build bigger and better entities for ourselves and our children forces bigger companies. This is what our race, Human, has done since God put us here: create success of our race and better things around us.You wouldnt have the internet to even debate this topic if it wasnt for that. So before you go accusing our race, which includes yourself, for being greedy, stop and think about all the things you have that contribute to that. But what do I know, I a dumb Fireman

ghostinfacekilla2 7 months ago
@commonman80 Yes, I don't understand that hippie Disney Movie nonsense. Wild animals are neither our friends nor our enemies. They are just there doing what they are programmed to do. That said, imho harmony is possible, but not in the sense of walking through the forest surrounded by friendly birds, wolves, bears etc. Living together with occasional conflicts yet without seriously affecting eachother is harmony too. Fact is, people shouldn't be getting into coyote's territory...
Avatar23561 5 months ago
@commonman80 ... if they don't want a conflict. Humans move ever further into the wilderness and more or less unwillingly provoke these situations. They might not want the conflicts, but they don't stay away from the edge of the woods either. Animals always pull the shortest straw in these situations. It's sad humans are so intelligent in comparison with other animals, yet very often don't want to see or lack the intelligence to actually see the consequences of their actions.

@commonman80 I've been stalked walking with a buddy. They surrounded us in the trees making noise. Coyotes are only dangerous when extremely hungry, Your walking alone at night in the woods with no one to watch your back, if you run like a dumbass, or if your small enough for them to consider attacking. They are verysmart animals

sadly people never tell their children to yell and scream at wild animals to get rid of them. i had to scare away a wolf and black bears when i was just a few years older than that kid in northern michigan. ALWAYS have a big stick to smack a tree with. watch that big black bear RUN.
A4moondoggy 1 year ago
@A4moondoggy As another kid that grew up in northern MI, yeah I get what you're saying. I'd bring a knife with me whenever I'd be out in the woods just in case. Fortunately the biggest thing that ever attacked me out there was a partridge lol. But many people out here in the city and suburbs are very ignorant when it comes to wildlife. They either think every little squirrel is out to kill them, or that big coyote or bear going through their garbage wants to be their friend.

GriffinR34 1 year ago
@GriffinR34 you do know a coyote can clear a 6 to 8 foot fence right? and that they have any where form 1-19 pups a year? that they hunt kill and eat anything form rabbits to horses? they are scavangers.... this has nothign to do with us over hunting deer. And hunting for selfsih reason you are such a tree hugger, you cant kill coyotes off it wouldnt happen.
JCrain03 1 year ago
@JCrain03 Thats what thay said about wolves.. Putting a fence up would deter most if not all yotes. Unless theres somthing in there that would really make them want to get in there.
There is lots of options that are non violent and protect you fully from these sorts of encounters. Believe me, if you choose not to do them.. it shows what kind of person you really are inside.
GriffinR34 1 year ago
@GriffinR34 lol woul dyou kill a rat or a mouse? its the same idea here man they jump fences just fine i have watched them do it and they are much different than wolves, they are a wild animal and they do damge and are very dangerous
JCrain03 1 year ago
To be honest, I would not kill a rat. I would get a trap that enclosed them and then let them loose somwere else.
There are many non-violent deterants, and not all of them maime or kill. It would be worth my time and effort to put a caged animal in the back of my truck and relocait it elswere and never worry about it again. Knowing I respected gods creatures.
GriffinR34 1 year ago
@GriffinR34 lol you are always gonna have a pest problem then, rats mice, coyotes all manner of animals like that will come back. An dont give that respect gods creatures bit, god made man to have domain over animals, the biggest reason to hunt coyotes is to help control their population they have no natural predetor here on the east coast which means if they number to many alot of them will starve to death .
JCrain03 1 year ago
omg really peeps ..friend ha ..as stated below there was one young girl here were iam from cape breton that was kill by 2 ...when she was just walkin on a hikin traill ..now there was a young 16 yr old here also that was bitten twice on her head while campin with her family but we can be friends with them ..no shoot the bastards and all that we can
trasheranne 1 year ago
I think it was stupid to kill the coyote. they should have just darted her and relocated her with her pups.
Its just their instincts..

@Shawnshawna they would have come back coyotes are territorial and go back to there home ranges.

I still feel bad for them tho ^^''

Asinine comment. How do you explain coyotes in Central Park or prowling down the middle of main streets in Malibu?
Daisytoo 1 year ago
"Overall the coyote is our friend" ... "When you make them tame they attack." What utter BS!!!! How is the coyote our 'friend'?! These animals that attacked were in no way tame - we have become tame! The DEC in NY says no shooting of predatory animals on your property. More BS. The DEC has become more powerful than the IRS, thanks to the nutso animal rights activists.
