I loved this programme. It brought back fond memories of my time at Acorn in the 1980′s. Looking back the real story of Acorn was never about how many BBC's it sold vs. Sinclair Spectrums, it about the lack of technological investment. That Acorn was sold on the cheap even though its ARM 32 bit RISC led the world by a mile - now in all Apple iPhones and iPads - confirms the short term thinking still evident today. As a TV programme it was great comedy, as a story it is a tragedy
Perfect join of Paul McCartney's "Pipes of Peace" during Clive Sinclair hassle at bar against Chris Curry. Comical indeed but I wonder if it really happened.
That altercation between Clive Sinclair and Chris Curry is, by all accounts, entirely true.
I thought that was the most poignant moment of the entire programme. Despite the previous rivalry, that seemed like the first time Sinclair was really, genuinely hurt. It was really quite sad.
Fantastic programme in all respects, this. Anyone doubting whether their licence fee is being wisely spent should consider gems like this. Would this ever have appeared on a commercial channel? No.
@AndyGriff72 Well, in all fairness, we received the very similar Pirates of Silicon Valley years before. That either proves or disproves your point, because it aired on a commercial network, but one you can only get with a monthly fee.
Time for a non sequitor! In Pirates of Silicon Valley, the guy who played Steve Ballmer was none other than John DiMaggio, aka Bender from Futurama. Now that's fun on the bun!
