The way I look at it is that time doesn't stand still for any of us - whilst the original is always going to be a great song, it's also good to see new interpretations on things. I personally am surprised when I find that I think Adrenochrome probably one of the greatest songs ever (although I'd really love to see a remix of that). Note also that AE did it him himself with Alice on releasing Under the Gun. I think it is an interesting remix with an interesting cut of video and I welcome it.
